Default Help: Rough start this am(not RUF start)

A strange start this am when I turned the key. The car fired then seemed to want to stall 4 or 5 times. I intermittantly hit the gas to try and save it the way I would with my old sh*t boxes. I'm sure it would have just stalled if I had not hit the gas. The car eventually started running and idled and drove fine.

1) I remember this happenning before but only appearing to stall maybe once- not as many times
2) is hitting the gas OK to do or am I causing more trouble/damage
3) what could be up with this, is something dirty or is there a filter I should check?

I did start the car again later in the day without problems.

Thanks.

Could be the DME or more likely a sticky ISV. Do a search on the ISV - there are loads of threads on how to clean it.
