The Official Show Your Ugly Mug and Car Thread Thingamajig

Some of the other forums have developed some rather extensive threads sharing pictures of themselves and their cars. It's pretty neat to see both the face (or mug, in my case) behind the screenname and their respective cars.

So, your mission, if you choose to accept it is to post a picture of you and your car (come on, we all love showing a picture of our car). Ideally, it would be one picture, but if you don't have one with you and your car together (I only got one this past weekend), you can post them separately.

Come on, jump in. The water's fine!! And don't give me some excuse that you will break the camera.

How did I get here? Dedication to Rennlist long ago. I was here in the beginning and I took some time off to deal with other hobbies (and getting married...ouch)

I was a member on the mailing list back when, Badfish502 was my email handle.

You know the post counter only goes so high, It looks like I don't have many cuz I just flipped it over :icon107:

Anyway, I appreciate the kind words, I knew you were just joshin. But the car aint wrecked YET hahaha. Its in the plan to hit a K-rail eventually but not quite yet.

Nope, That was an after work romp at the cart track in Sterling, VA. Every now and then you need a "little" speed after work to blow off some steam. I need a few mods done before the 993 is track ready. Here's a pic of the wife too.

jangobox,
That's the autopilot disconnect button but I like to pretend like it's a missle fire button. Although I have to make my own sound effects when I push it, maybe that's why the captains always give me funny looks. :)

InTheAir 08-24-2006 04:13 PM

Jason, is that an ERJ? Very nice.

NightFlyer 08-24-2006 04:21 PM

InTheAir,
No, it's a MD-11 but I did used to fly the ERJ at my last job. The cockpits are similar but I now I'm sitting two stories in the air rather than close to the ground on the ERJ. Now I have plenty of room to stretch out and read my car magazines on those long flights. :)

Rich,

Yes it is! It was last years Porsche Club GB Festival. We were attempting to break the record for the number of Porsches driving round a track. I was looking a bit rough as I had been up until 3am talking Porsches and the record attempt meant I had to be on the track by 7am. I think beer was involved the previous night as well....

Well, because I am usually driving my car, I can't quite take my own picture (although I did see that one of the reflection.....very cool). So here's what I have, its a recent pic of our newly organized local PCA group. I am the one at the bottom right (red arrow) and as an added feature, we also have our own Rob's (AC993C2) parents (blue arrows) who brought there new (to them) GT3 along for the ride prior to this pic

Havent been up to Glacier since a took a roadtrip with a buddy after we graduated high school. We stayed at the Goat Lick Lodge a couple of nights and tented it a few others. I will never forget wading in lake while going back to our camp and my buddy tossed over a big old dead carp by me and said "throw it on your hook and lets eat it" as a joke. I was goign to put it on my hook and then had the idea to throw it back to him while he wasnt looking. Well, from the moment it launched I new it was going to hit him and it did smack across the back of the shoulders-dead on hit. Sweltering smack of a dead bloated carp, blinded and hit from behind. It doesnt get any better than that. To top it off, dozens of people on the shore who saw it all. He verbally freaked and threw some rocks at me and finally cooled off a few hours later. It was a Halmark moment!

Great place!!

Well I had to really dig to find a picture with me in it as I'm usually behind the camera. I'm the guy in the middle and my Dad is on the right. HEY!! I found the disc with the pictures of the 993's that were an important part of my life (so far) :

This is the car that made me fall in LOVE with 993's:

My First 993 was a C2S. I loved that car!!! The only reason we sold it was to make room in our garage for Bad Max ('55 356 Outlaw). I miss this car so very VERY VERY much. We Both wish we never sold it:

Me and last 993. It was a '98 Cab. Well... it was my last 993, but not my L.A.S.T. I'm planning on getting another one:

Hi Tony, thanks...

Well, I know some folks here wont agree with me, but the TS tail really really transforms the appearance of the car. It gives it the 'I'd hit it factor' sexy look..lol...now all I need is more power.. :p Oh..it was one of the first mods my wife insisted on doing..her take on it was ..a porsche is not a porsche without a tail :icon107:

IRIE,
I know some folks in the MD area and could arrange to have your wheels "disappear" and shipped to Dallas. It wouldn't be a mod if you had to replace them because they "went missing"

Just let me know if I can be of assistance. Always ready to help out a fellow RL'r. :D

Trinitony and Irie,

I hope to see you at the next Rennlist meet and drive. Andreas was supposed to set it up for this fall but AOW went AWOL.

If you get a chance, come by the Summit Point club race October 6, 7, 8. Oct 6 is practice and fun races, I believe, while, Oct 7 and 8 are warm-up, qualifying and either sprint or enduro races on Sat or Sun, respectively. It's blast, and you'll get to see some really cool machines.

Max, those are the first generation of Fabspeed MaxFlow's. BTW, I tried that beer once in Montreal and can't stop drinking it. I love German/Holland/Czec beers but for some reason always have to have a LB in the fridge.

Adrienne, it's pretty easy to tell it's me, always a beer in the hand and smokes in the pocket, not to mention the extra hairy legs....

BTW, here is a picture of me and my one and only.

Thanks CP!!!! I'm kind of partial. I only hope it's at least 12 years, she's growing up so fast. She already has an agent, been on the cover of Dallas Child Magazine, and now just finished five episodes of Barney (I hate Barney). She has the attitude to go along with it. I actually feel sorry for the boys.

Hello to everyone,
This is my first post and I thought it would be the right thread to post to. This is my baby that my wife bought me a couple of months ago. I had dreamed of owning a 911 since we first married and we finally did it. Last December I was diagnosed with Leukemia and I told my wife that if I made it through I was going to buy one. Well, I made it (minus 60 pounds and my hair, which is now back! Both...) and I love it. The photo of me and the car were taken a couple of weeks after getting out of the hospital. My wife actually had to test drive the car, I didn't have the strength to push in the clutch and she drove it for a couple of weeks before I could have the pleasure! She loves the car and doesn't mind taking it out to meet the girls for lunch. My 4 year old daughter calls it the race car.

Ed.

Chris W., my kid makes me pick her up from school every Friday in the 993. She is going to be sad when I take it back to the track. She told me she liked it because of all the attention the car gets from the boys. I'm in major trouble and she's only six. I do have one requirement for her, she has to wear an AC/DC shirt.

BTW, here is a photo from her latest photo shoot.

We had "back in black" blaring out this morning when i dropped them off.....some people just don't get it........the 993 and classic rock just fit together.......although anything with a good guitar riff for me and i'm off down the road like a bat out of hell....... although i must draw the line at meat loaf.

Ahhhh...she is so cute George!! And a 993 fan too? I like her!!

George A 09-07-2006 11:58 AM

Chis, AC/DC is a must in that car. Luckily, she loves them. I swear she knew the words to TNT by the time she 2 years old. She even has a hand in the air doing the "horned hand".

Sounds like your twins are going through the same thing as mine, isn't it great. I'm having more fun that I thought I would. Now if she would only be interested in racing.......

George

George A 09-07-2006 12:07 PM

Thanks Adrienne. As much as she loves my car, she wants a VW Bug, a green convertible to be precise. She started talking to me the other day about how I learned to drive/race and would I teach her. Right away my eyes lit up and I started talking about getting her a go kart and taking her out to the track. We talked for about thirty minutes and then my wife came in and ruined it all. She asked her why she wanted to learn to drive and her response was "well I'm a girl and racing is for boys, I just want to learn to drive so that I can drive to the mall and go shopping." Needless to say, I was a little heartbroken.

George

Adrienne 09-07-2006 12:12 PM

Well, there is a glimmer of hope. Maybe you should bring her to the track and introduce her to all the women drivers. Maybe then she'll see it's not just for boys. I had a green beetle before my 993. I can relate.

There is invaluable information here, and a lot of great "car people". Even tucked away in our little corner of the world it is great to be part of such a "family".

Okay Guys.... THAT'S ENOUGH!!!!!

First of all I want to say one thing, I like you all (well... maybe not all of you  ). Also I want you to know that I'm not taking sides here at all....

I've noticed, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that has, that every single time Alan posts on Rennlist (and that's not often anymore) there are a few other members, and they know who they are, who pop up and press his buttons because they know the reaction that they WILL get out of him every time. You guys love to goad him. Alan, passionate as he is, will ALWAYS answer with something that he knows will cook their goats in return.

STOP IT NOW!!!!!!

Just ignore each other. It is more than evident to all of us that you guys don't like each other. That is fine, hate each other if you'd like, but don't drag everyone else into the mire with you.

Shame on you all for ruining it for everyone else.

Let's have a truce. Mike, Greg, Fill (etc. you know who you are), if you see Alan posting something PLEASE IGNORE HIM. Alan, if you see Mike, Greg, Fill etc. posting something PLEASE IGNORE THEM. It's that simple. I believe a child in Kindergarten can master this skill.

Thanks for letting me vent.

See what I mean??

Everyone stop it!!!

I'm not taking sides here, but I feel that Alan had it up to HERE (I'm actually positioning my hand over the top of my head for y'all to see) and knew that if he even posted a single word, Positive OR Negative on this thread SOMEONE from the self imposed Rennlist Police would be replying with some stupid negative remark because that is EXACTLY what has happened every single time for the past year and a half since the famous California Rumble Photo thread. This time it appears to me that Alan didn't wait to be attacked, he attacked first. I wish he hadn't but he did so ther it is. I don't know what is up between him and Eric, and believe me, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW nor do I care.......

SO...... CAN WE ALL START FRESH AND NEW RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW??
How about if all you guys that don't like each other IGNORE EACH OTHER. IF Alan Posts first, ignore him. IF you guys post first, Alan you ignore them.

Easy huh?

I wish y'all could meet in person, then you'd see how very silly all this REALLY is. Really Really SILLY. I mean, it's time to Grow up isn't it? Or is this the opposite of growing up? Some of you are acting like dementia is already setting in. I've seen what dementia is like and what it does to a person. Not funny at all.

PEACE and QUIET AT LAST............... Nice isn't it?

John D. 11-04-2006 04:56 PM

Hey Matt..!

It's not a dummy question at all! Using the Rennlist "upload" - yes, it's maxed out at 200KB, just so folks who open a thread aren't waiting forever to see uploaded pictures :) If you have a problem with size, you can e-mail me your picture (at admin@rennlist.com) and I'll resize & upload it for you. I'll e-mail you back a link with that picture, OK??

Best to you!

Hey, I've seen my fair share of "holes" thank you very much.

Including this one that was made with the second stage of a Titan Missile motor (somewhere in the neighborhood of Fourty-thooousand pounds of high explosives) in the Utah desert.

Boom BABY! We were three miles away and it still knocked my hat off.
And I know the photo is crappy but that hole is about 120 foot across.

The first two are off my C4 and it's big brother C4S owned by a buddy of mine. Neat story in that he sold my C4 (on left) to buy this S which is the same color, same interior, etc. It has been neat to learn about all he did to the car and the history over our PCA dinners. Our first pics together.

The last one is of all my kids. Both my girls and both GSDs on a nice sunny October day.

Those girls from Vegas are okay but your wife is stunning. Obviously she's from Montreal, one of the world's top cities for beautiful women. After my first visit to Montreal for F1 back when I was single, I almost moved there after getting neck sprain from looking at all the hot women walking around. Lucky you.

Hey Mark!! Thanks bro! I did the rims myself. I chickened out :( on getting them powder coated, so I just seperated the center pieces from the rims and had them painted :)

What kind of bmw is that with the cage and all track ready? I've often thought an M-coupe would make a great track car.

neunneundrei 11-28-2006 01:26 PM

What kind of bmw is that with the cage and all track ready? I've often thought an M-coupe would make a great track car.

There's a very very nice story behind that photo. I'd been to a couple of PCA DE events, but, to be honest, I don't feel like I fit in with the crowd that shows up there - I mean with their totally tricked out track cars, spending oodles of cash (I'm just not in that bracket :) ). So, I was invited to join the BMW Car Club here in Ontario, and I signed up for the BMW Hospitality at the ALMS race on Labour Day weekend at Mosport. As part of the hospitality, BMW (and more specifically the chief instructor for the club) took us for a tour of some BMW race teams. One of those teams was BimmerWorld (http://www.bimmerworldracing.com/data/index.html). My daughter told me that she wanted to be a race car driver - and while talking with Seth Thomas (one of the drivers) we told him she wanted to drive racecars. So Seth proceeded to ask Olivia if she wanted a complete detailed tour of his race-car, which he so generously did. Another car club member took the photo that you see, and told me that he would send me a copy via e-mail. The next day, however, we were late arriving at Mosport and missed the race for Seth and BimmerWorld. But the car club member tracked Olivia and me down, and gave Olivia her own copy of the photo, signed by Seth Thomas which says "To Olivia, the best future driver. All the best." - Olivia was beside herself - and it was then that I found I had to go to the BMW DE event - the people were outstanding. The BMW club, by the way, makes no stipulation on the type of car you can bring to events or that you must own - I owned only a VW and a 993 (although now I have an '88 M6), yet they welcomed me with open arms. (In fact, one guy showed up in a rented Golf - for his sake he's lucky he didn't wreck it!!) Very cool...

911C2 11-28-2006 01:56 PM

Hey that's a neat story.

But those are some good looking kids.
My daughter is just 3 months old. I hope when she grows up we will do stuff together.

This Thread is awsome.

Enrico, Great looking car and family.

Seth Thomas is a member of Rennlist and I have read several of his posts over the past several months on the Racing forum althogh I cannot remember his screen name. He seems to be a very likeable and helpful guy from his posts and your story certainly proves this. I believe he mentioned in his posts that he owns a GT3 and from what I remember his comments were extremely positive on his GT3 which is really saying something considering the fact that he professionally races BMWs!!!

Really? Would be nice to know his screen - perhaps I'll do a search. Thanks DreamCarrera - you know he really is a good guy - as is his driving partner James Clay. Yes, we talked about 996's and he said that the GT3 was an absolutely outstanding car. The week after I spoke with him, I saw James at the BMW DE at Mosport, and he told me that he got to drive Seth's GT3 at - hmmm, I believe Road America - and he said it was an incredible drive. Nice bunch...

Actually, she was a female about 11 years old in that picture. We had to put her down about a year ago. A tough decision but it was always in her best interest. She was quite a dog. NOBODY would mess with my wife with Zena on duty.

Seth's user name is "Seth Thomas".

neunneundrei 11-29-2006 12:29 AM

Bruce, she's gorgeous. It always is a tough decision - having to put our toy poodle down this year was one of the hardest things I had to do. All of our kids and my nieces had his name as their first word. So we went totaly nuts - we went from an 11 pound toy, to a 95 lb Great Pyrenees! She's wonderful - great family dog. GSD's are great - but the breeders here are a dime-a-dozen and getting one which is not radically trained and can be put with babies and toddlers was a bit of a gamble. Enjoy the memories my friend.

You should have seen it when it had the custom Can-Can red leather matts... that was just WAY too much red. Even the "Turbo" script was in a shade of orange. Now nicely hidden beneath the black mats.

LOL...I dunno Mark, Luke was one tough cat. Named my baby boy after him so there's plenty of respect there. Last I heard, the little birdie told me Agro was retired from the Bond Market and pursuing his dream in racing. Not bad for a 34 year old eh' ?? Despite his antics on the board, he's a good dude and on the right page.

I play for two teams....that shot was a benefit game I was selected to play in for TEAM RHFC (Richmond Hockey Fights Cancer) and I too, play in an amateur men's league. Grew up in Rhode Island and played since I was 4...high school, junior, college. My Dad played till he was 60, grandfather played....the sport is in my blood--I love it. What's even more exciting for me is teaching my boys to play and getting ready to coach them. Nothing beats seeing your kid out on the ice .......balls to the wall having a blast.

I don't have one with the P-Car, but here is a picture of me and the wife at the "Royal Standard" outside of London. It has been continuously operating as a pub for over 900+ years! The day we were there, the local Rolls-Royce club was having their monthly luncheon. Very cool to see. In the second picture, my wife is holding my beer-gut in. England has very good beer, but I can't wait to go try some in Germany in 2008!

Until I have a picture of me with the new 993, I offer the following P-car content of my old 964 ... My daughters are both fans ;)

Abby went for the driving suit back when she was 13. This month she'll get on the track for the first time!

Becka rode home with me through Wisconsin after a Labor Day TRAC at Road America. She enjoys being a passenger, as long as it's not in the back seat.

Great-looking puppies. Are they French or English Bulldogs, or perhaps something else? I showed the pics to my wife and now she wants to get one!
