A buddy recently sent this reminder of a trip we took a few years ago, Nasty Nor'Easter
And another w/ some of the riff raff I hang around w/ after a little bike ride, I m the one that hasn't shaved since the '60s, the 2 in the middle had just completed a cross country ride, Oregon to Virginia and couldn't wait to do another 50 through the Adirondaks

It was a memorable trip
Oct18-20 1996,
Newport RI to NYC
80knt winds from 90 ,Game 1 of the world Series on 10/19 cancelled at Yankee Stadium
course 270
30-40 foot waves
90' schooner w/ a storm jib surfing on the waves down the middle of LI Sound
the front 1/3 of the boat hanging in the air, GPS was recording incredible speeds over the bottom
should have been an easy 2 day trip but during the night we got blown into Gardiner's Bay, not sure how that happened as I was fast asleep, not a good place to be w/ the wind from the east and had to turn around and beat back out
I was driving from 8PM when we left to ~11PM off Fischers Island, woke around nautical day break, and drove down the sound to NYC, The first part was pleasant and warm, the last a rush, couldn't get anyone else to come up on deck except the owner seen in the pic w/ me.

Pic taken last weekend on a roof terrace overlooking the city of Helsinki, enjoying a nice Cuban with two of my best friends. I hadn't seen either for some time so it was an awesome night!
