Total 911 article -More HP
Anyone see the article in the August issue of Total911 on NineMeister's 993 cylinder head conversion? Very interesting, they are getting close to 350bhp out of the 3.6 NA engine.
I was thinking about moving to a TT in a couple of years, but this might be a better option for more HP while keeping the car I have. I am curious to see the pricing & the long term effects on the motor.
Thoughts?

The only thing that bothers me is when you do this to an engine that already has a lot of miles on it you may stress the bottem end to the point where something fails.
Nevertheless, an interesting option, eh?

I just picked up this issue as well. Very nice write up with back to back tests of stock vs. modified varioram and non varioram cars. Dyno and performance times (0-30, 60, 100, 150mph I believe). the numbers were quite impressed and the writers were even more impressed with the changes in driving performance.

Race Car
See this is exactly what we have been griping about with Excellence, this is the info we 993 guys need to know. I love racing, but I don't read about it, I either watch it or DO it. I wish Ex. would fill its pages with these type stories and not 10 pages of gone by races we have already seen on Speed.

Well Marv, my 993 has 90,000 UK miles on the clock and since the conversion (April this year) has done six DE i think you call them, we call them track days, and it is going incredibly strongly.
Colin (9M) checked the rings, bores and the rest of the engine during the conversion and replaced anything that needed replacing due to wear (nothing in my case, but I had new rings as a precaution).
I think you will find that the bottom end is pretty bullet proof on these engines so no worries here.
On saturday I was at a major track in the UK (Bedford Autodrome - 3.6 miles long purpose built) and after lunch a GT3 Mk1 driver came up to me to ask what I had had done to the car as it was so fast. I had overtaken him in the morning and he had chased after me and in his words "you overtook me and I couldn't even get close enough to read your number plate"
A beautiful moment,
One of the guys there has a mint 993 imported from the US, full US spec and is thinking of getting colin to work on it here in the UK.
Hope it happens as Colin could develop a chip for the US ECU and ship it with the heads and other bits - Chris if you are reading call colin and colin if you are reading hope you get to work on Chris's car and can demonstrate to the folks over the pond, what you can do with a US spec car - they can then experience real performance.
Cheers

P.S. I have been a full paid up member since Dec, just noticed I am still a "user" so have mailed Jenn.
I would have to be a member with a 350HP billet head conversion wouldn't I
Some of the guys on the PCGB board have started to cal me John with the crazy Belton engine - think i prefer this to '95 993!

I have been following this development for months also, and am glad to hear that Colin may have the opportunity to work on a chip he can sell as part of the package. That would be welcome and worthy of consideration. Please keep us posted

Could anyone share the article in email? I've never heard of that magazine or seen it on the shelves...
