Help...pool of fluid underneath my car this morning
My car sprung a leak and I think it is the power steering fluid (99% sure) as the fluid level is super low and this leak is coming from between the two front wheels (centered)? bummer
there is probably 1/2 quart or more of fluid down. I just want to be 100% sure before I start the engine that is not engine oil? Where do the lines to the front oil coolers run?
thanks

The oil lines run along the right side hidden by the plastic ABS runner that goes between
the front and rear wheel wells. Sounds like it's not the oil. Besides, you'd have to lose several
quarts of oil before you were really in trouble with the engine.
Looks like you're OK to get it to a garage if you can't fix it yourself. But be careful !!!!!

Before you address the worst case scenario, make sure it is not water from A/C condensation. That is where mine drips out.

Did you just bleed the brakes? Mine did the same thing a couple of times just after and when the car was on an angle. It bled from the little rubber plunger just before the mid body pan. Hasn't done it in a while now and I don't notice any adverse symtoms.

Sounds like the rack to me too, but could always be a power steering line to the rack......have it checked ASAP to be sure, racks with no lubrication can be fussy.

Removed the plastic covering and it is hard to tell exactly where it is coming from but definitely power steering hoses and/or rack. Since this morning my power steering reservoir is now bone dry!
So can I drive it to the shop (30 minutes away) or will I damage the power steering pump?? I doubt it will hold any fluid at the rate it leaked out.

Don't drive it
I would put some more fluid in and turn it over to see where the leak is coming from. (Obviously put a pan below where the puddle originally formed to catch this stuff) Then you can see what you can easily replace at home before a trip to the garage is in order. I don't think it is a good idea to drive the car with a bone dry pump - you'd most likely burn the pump up. Just my .02

the car has an std, apparently you let it run on a dirty road without protection, and now it has a disgusting discharge. But at least its an STD which can be cured by the PorscheGYN.

Throw in the cheap stuff
I'd throw the most inexpensive DOT grade stuff per the manual and run the car to see where it comes out. Can you lift it and see a leak anywhere obvious (motor not running ofcourse)? Just try the simple stuff at home - it might save you a few bucks. Also, if it needs to be towed in, call AAA and buy a few more miles of flatbed in advance so you don't get stiffed (if your're in the boonies). Good luck and keep us posted.
