Went to get the emissions test at the VEIP station down in Waldorf, MD. I figured with the car now being lowered and the RSCS lip on the front I would take a chance and just walk in and ask the guy for a waiver for the next two years. He walked out took a look at the car and said no problem and gave me a waiver. I'm good thru 2008. They see very few of these cars and I don't think they want to even mess with them.

Huh! So they just simply didn't want to even have you drive in the bay because you were sitting so low? That's great! I'm almost surprised they didn't have you go in and do a non-treadmill sniffer test. That is what I always have happen. But I guess you still need a good bit of clearance to just roll through the bay.

Didn't even roll thru the bay and the guy didn't even want me to try. I just figured the worst thing they could say to me when I asked was "No" but it worked out just as I had hoped.

Yep, if your car is lowered they won't even let you drive into the bay. No, questions asked, they just write up the slip.

I just went about a few months ago...they asked if I had problems with speed bumps (car is much ower than my avatar). I said that I did with some. Still had me crawl through the bay and then just gave me the slip. The guy told me that if the car is 96 or newer they usually just plug in the OBD II...no sniffer. First time I did the emissions, the guy couldn't even find the OBD II connector and just gave me the slip. At least they don't seem to want to have much to do with it and get it away quickly...but I want to find the guy that did yours!!;-)

I voiced my concerns about possible damage to the car and the guy simply did the tailpipe sniff. When I see some of these dyno-jockies beat on the cars while on the rollers, it makes my heart stop.

My car, too, received the vaunted two year waiver after the testing manager took one look at my decal-festooned steed. Of course, I fell for the "give me the keys so we can go test your car at the special vehicle facility" line. Doh!
