Hello to you all in 993 world. I like 993's, as do most of the 996 guys. Before we start a flame war, just wanted you all to know who and what sptschoice is. This thread is what started it all. Out of the blue, here's the thread sptschoice started: sprtschoice stinker . Thankfully closed by the moderator.

tell me how many porsches you have owned or even driven?
i dont think any 996 owners would bash 993, as ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about porsches would have great respect for 993's. but not everyone can afford multiple porsches and some may choose one model over the other due to performance, style, interior, fit and finish, or whatever metric they so choose to use. until you can say something intelligent, knowledgeable and productive, please dont waste our bandwidth.

The market has already said a lot as to which "older" model -- 993 or 996 -- is the more desirable 911. I suppose this trend could change over time, but I'm betting any year 993 will eventually be worth more than even the newest model year 996. So I for one don't bother taking any offense to slams from 996 owners. I know I have the best, most desirable 911 Porsche made to date and with time the market will prove me right. :thumbup:

Mooty....what difference how many porsches I owned...I owned three prior to my current one. Before you start throwing stones why don't you read their comments on 993 owners prior to my post and then talk to me!

I am sorry..I wasn't bashing 993 owners...because I love the 993 (but my wife doesn't)....I was just being sarcastic!! and refering to a remark a 993 owner's wife made (saying a 996 looks like a Ford Taurus) So no bashing from my side!!

it does matter how many p cars you have owned driven and understand the idiosyncracies of each model. every model they have made has some major prob and minor prob. we learn to deal with them and poke fun with each other. for example, SC has self exploding rubber center'd cluth and tensioner prob, 993 has early valve guide wear prob, CEL, steering rack, 964 has more leak than usual and self disintegrating clutch, 996 has RMS and porous blocks. i dont hear any outright BASHING rather than tongue in cheek jabs, which is what makes the automobile community fun.

i do read 996 board and know their comments. i dont see BASHING going on. some say 993 has "antiquated" instruments. well, by objective standards, 993 has an olderlooking dash, but that's not by itself derogatory. 996 has a modern interior that by itself is not a praise either. some would say 993 is underpowered, well, compared to 996 that is a true statement, however, that's not necessarily bad. i much rather drive my friends grossly underpowered 911RS then any of my faster cars.

and most 993er here do read posts on 996 board. if there were BASHING, they would know about it. why do you need to make such announcement on both 996 and 993 board? to cause a war?

btw, a LOT of 996 owners have or still own 993's and may 993 owners are moving on to 996 997 and GTx, why would these ppl bash themselves???
