Default Radar/laser detector

Hi, I have a Passport 7500 series which I bought 4 years ago, I love it, It has saved my a.. a few times ,I am not big into speeding, But like to take it up to 80-100 once in a while in a 40-45 speed limet,, You know just a quick blast in 2nd and 3rd, ..My question is do detectors need to be up graded. I would hate to get a ticket because I could not pick up the police latest stuff ,Thankyou Mick

Yep . . . technology changes. Don't know much about the Passport . . . but the Valentine 1 offers owners free upgrades. Mine has the most recent POP technology.

Depends on how old the V1 is. I think upgrade prices are free for very late V1's before POP 2 became available, and then increase with price for older units.

I think it is great Valentine provides upgrades without purchasing a new unit. It really is a class company with outstanding customer service. No affiliation - just loyal customer.

Gotta agree the Valentine is the way to go. Had mine upgraded several years ago with laser detection; haven't done anything since.

Also, for interstate driving, CB radio gives you the longest detection range you'll find! Combination has kept me out of trouble.

I called and check against the serial number of my V1 and they told me that I need the POP upgrade which will cost me $50. I am still confused about the free part....
