Yellow top and Odyssey battery fitment question
Hi all:
I am interested in getting the Optima Yellow Top. Can someone tell me which models would fit? Do I need to order brackets? which brackets?
Same question for Odyssey. Should I go with PC925 or PC1200? What's the exact model number for PC925 (there are like 6 or 7 variants)? And what's the part number of the bracket that I need?
Thanks in advance.

The Red top Optima is the one you would want.
The PC925T (with terminals) is the battery number. The hold down that I like is http://www.odysseybatteries.com/accessories/billet.htm I had this in my car and it looked great and held very secure even with a couple of G forces on the track.

Second vote for the 925. Got mine at Batteryweb for $132 shipped to CA ($108 plus shipping), no sales tax. Rennline also makes a hold down, or you can get out a jigsaw and do it yourself.

Here is SF, I drive my car at least 3 or 4 days a week.
But when I go on trip, it could sit for 2-3 weeks. Would I have trouble with either the Red Top or the PC925?
That's why I was thinking about the Yellow Top. Would would you recommend the Red over the Yellow Top?
Thanks.

Paul - a yellow top is deep discharge (marine battery) - designed more multiple discharges before recharging. Think about constantly stopping and restarting a boat motor. You don't need that for a car. Red top is fine. But I'd get an Odyssey.

I have the optima blue top. the original owner had put it in, lasted 5 years and that is with quite a bit of long term storage during minnesota winters and many days between use. I recently replaced it and went with the same top since I was happy with its performance and it fit without any modifications into the OEM spot/cables. I'm sure there are valid reasons for the other types but I've been very happy with this one. Sears sells blue, red and yellow optimas also.

Question: If I change to an Optima, do I need to corner balance the car again to compensate for the weight change? Just had it done, so would hate to have to do it again. Thanks.

Don, I researched this forum quite extensively and seems like a lot of people here recommends Yellow Top. I drive it daily for the most part but it will sit for 2-3 weeks when I occasinally goes on long business trips.
993polarsilver, darn, I am in the same boat. I just had corner balancing done as well... Can anyone comment whether the approx 10lbs save will affect the corner balancing? Alternatively, I can always put on 10lbs on my body to compensate.
