Angry 95 993 Airbag Light on ....

Forgot to turn off my Valentine 1 and with the recent cold weather, my battery got drained over the last 5 days. Had to jump start it this morning but now I have the airbag cel on. Took it to the local dealer just as they were leaving for the day, to see if they could turn it off with the hammer. Hammer says there are 2 hard faults which could not be turned off. Did something happen when I did the jump start? What to do next before I take it in for service at the dealer? Airbag module? How much is something like that? Thanks.

Jump start won't cause any problem if using another battery. The boost/start units on the market are a different matter. I've heard they are not recommended on cars with high level of electronics and can screw up components.

Mine came back from a repairer with the airbag light staying on.
I suspect the battery was flat and they boosted it, I saw the contraption not too far away. They said it was like that when they got it, RIGHT, I even notice if the cigarette lighter is not straight but I did not notice the airbag light and the ! light on every time I start up.

Dealer said "its the airbag module one thousand dollars" I said no thanks...

It's been on ever since, I must do something about it soon...

Thanks for your prompt replies. I did use a battery booster which may be the culprit. Wish I knew that before. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Check your fuses first. Maybe the boost blew a fuse. I dunno.

have the same problem, faulty trigger unit is what the OBD reader says. the local dealer quoted me $550. I thought about a DIY but it is hard to find a new unit and its attached with some form of nut for which I have no commensurate wrench or socket.

My friend! You need more than a salt water bath. The dreaded airbag cel is here to stay on our 95s. Just joking. Keep reading this thread and do not make the same mistake I made with the booster. I will also post the fix when the cel issue is cleared up. Thanks.

I left my 95 993 at the dealer for chain tensioner and valve cover gaskets. They called to tell me that the battery was dead and when they boosted it the airbag when to Bessarabia! That was the major part of the dealer's bill. There is a lot of lying that goes on at dealershps.

Default confused....

They confessed that the battery died, but there was lying going on? Please explain.

I left mine at the dealership for harness recall and the rubber heater cover behind the alternator was busted. Of course, I noticed immediately, but the service manager claimed it was like that. He did however offer to replace it for free. What a load of BS - just shut your mouth and fix it!

I just paid $690 two days ago to the dealer to have the air bag control module replaced. This was done because at another shop I had the engine resealed and when I picked the car up the air bag light was on; not on when I took it in. .

Anybody tried this fix? http://p-car.com/diy/clockrepair/

I want to do it, but I need to fix my horn problem first, in case that has anything to do with it. My horn blows constantly (well, if I put the relay in). There's something wrong with the horn pad in the steering wheel.
