Default 993 a/c: cold enough?

I'm a former 911T owner who has been away from p-cars for quite a while.
Presently have Audi S4 Stg II+ but plan to come back into the Porsche fold soon.

The S4's twin turbos, dp's and trans. generate a lot of cabin heat but the a/c onboard is good enough to offset.

Just doing my research- as I live in a hot climate- how is the a/c in the 993?
Anyone in a hot climate feel its inadequate?

TIA

p.s. looking for '95-98 pref. silver ext. or iris blue with light interior if anyone knows of one. Would consider Guards/cashmere if great deal.

I live in Southern CA and the 993 AC is adequate. After the interior is cooled down on the hottest days (105F or so), I never need to run the AC at full bore. My car is Guards/Cashmere, and I think the light interior makes a big difference.

Thanks- it ought to be the same here.

My current car is silver/with light grey leather and I do think it makes a big difference.

Blk/on blk- maybe in Int'l Falls but not here.

You'll find it a very pleasant surprise that having no engine up front keeps cabin temps down a LOT. My fiancee had a Stage III S4 (>400hp) and it drove me crazy how hot the cabin got from the engine. The 993 is a refreshing change. And I'm sure you'll have no problems with the a/c. It's not a complaint people have about 993's.

In my black/black coupe the AC is just adequate. If the car is parked for any length of time in the summer sun (which I try to avoid), it takes a while to cool down during which I hope it's not a coat & tie day. OTOH, the heater is incredible. LOL

If the A/Cis working properly, it'll be enough....but it has to be in perfect shape. Living in the south I can tell you that mine is only barley adequate when really hot and still takes a while to cool. The lowest it gets at the vent is 46-48 degrees, should be more like 39-42 to be really right.

Mine was fine in Death Valley at 114ºF. It was a dry heat.

It is ok, but not great. Car is Black/Black and on hot humid days (in Philly), the system keeps up but just barely.

Nothing to write home about; better than my '84 Carrera but no way did it match my '98 Audi A4 Avant. If you're in hot (esp. humid hot) climate, might be concerned.

It's good enough for the South Florida's humid hot as hell summer weather...not as good as my X5 but very good anyway...well...at least for a white car!

My center vent temp is a consistant 40 degrees. It would be better if it was 35, but it gets the job done. It does take a little while to cool down a hot car, but once it does, it is OK. Drove in Arizona in 110 degree heat, and number 3 fan speed was sufficient at highway speeds.

I've seen my Porsche tech measuring the t° at the vent to control the AC. He told me that a system in good shape should give you air at 3C° after a few minutes...I think it's 37F° So that confirms what Pete says.

I've had no problem in Houston, but my commutes are short (10-25 minutes)

My commutes are (too!) short as well but I'll rule out blk/blk or any dark interior.

Thanks.
