Ready for Trizact Color Sand
I've been busy today. The car is almost ready to be color sanded with the 3M Trizact Syatem. This is a DA system that I have used before with excellent results. The entire car is sanded with 1500 grit dry to remove all orange peel and deep scratches. After the 1500 sanding you proceed with 3000 grit wet. the DA I have is water injected. The 3000 grit will smooth out the surface to where there are mininal scratches. After these 2 steps it will take a 3 step buff followed by a hand glaze. The whole process will take 2-3 days if done correctly. I am not doing the decklid or front bumper due to having the turbo bumper and tail installed. I will do those pieces when the return from the body shop along with the side skirts. For those who care I will post pics of the sanding, buffing and hand glaze process. It really makes the paint smooth as silk. The seats and interior will be going back in the car Wednesday before I sand the car. The top will be covered and taped off to avoid staining with the compounds.

My car is Fly Yellow. It is a single stage paint (no clearcoat). The sanding process only removes a small amount of paint. The idea behind color sanding is to remove scratches and imperfections as well as knock down orange peel. If done correctly the paint will be as smooth as glass with no scratches or orange peel.
The Eagle:
Yes, that is Meguiar's on the left. I also love it as well. I use many diffrent products to bring the paint out. I really like the 3M line as well.

I should be starting the sading process on Thursday. It's a little wild looking on single stage paint. Once you start sanding yellow paint starts comming off. Scary the first time you do it, but the amount of paint being removed is minimal. I will post the pics as I start to sand.
