993 Wheel Offset Table
 
Has anyone seen a 993 wheel offset table on Rennlist? I have been searching but not finding anything. I have a 1995 C4 and am trying to cross reference some wheels.

Ryan - what exactly are you looking for? You may have better luck asking fitment of a specific rim/size/offset. It also depends on your proposed tire size and brand.

There is the "standard" set of wheels that are pretty much guaranteed to fit - for 993s, 18x10 ET65 and 18x8 ET50 - but once you go beyond 1/2" or so either in width or offset there are no fitment guarantees since clearances on older porsches can vary from car to car, not to mention even side to side on the same car. I believe the most aggressive that is practical for a 993 (ie requires minor fender rolling but no cutting or repainting) is 18x11 ET52-53 and 18x9.5 ET45. There is a thread from a few weeks ago where a Rennlister (Bill?) had posted some sizes and offsets that from his first hand experience would fit. Also if you are willing to get on your back and do some measuring on your car, there is an offset calculator you can use at TireRack.com. Good luck:cheers:

Ok...how's this for trivia...
'97 C2S

18x9 in front? What offset? Will they clear with no rubbing?
18x11? Anybody have any experience with this width and not rubbing? I guess I can stick with 10" rear widths, but I'm trying to get a little more rubber on the ground.

i believe david has 18x11's on his cab. don't you david? rolled fenders & 11's results in a great agressive look (imho). :evilgrin:

I don't have a C2S but the 996 turbo twist are 11" and fit widebody 993s w/o rubbing and no fender rolling needed - there are a lot of 993TTs running around on these...IIRC the offset is still ET45, so this would be a fairly safe setup. For the front, staying with ET50 but going from 8" to 9" should also be OK but a bit of fender rolling may be needed depending how much your car is loweed. BTW you can go 10-20mm wider w/o having to get new wheels.

Thanks for the info guys. Not really looking to roll the fenders, so I'm looking to get as much meat on the rear as possible before making modifications to the body.

Sounds interesting. Looks like I may need to look into the some 996 turbo twists. Anybody know if they are much heavier than the Technologies I have on the car already?

Since it will be for a track setup, I am assuming that the front width is not as important as the getting more meat on the rear. Afterall, I'm not looking for more push...

I have 9x18 fronts for street use, ET50 fits fine 235/40 or 235/35 tires

Push is exactly what you will get if you increase the rear and leave the front alone.

Use 8 or 9 & 10 or11 225/40 or 235/40f and 265/35 or 285/30 rear for street because understear there is sort of desireable

but for track 8 & 10 225/40 and 265/35(R rubber) will give you a quicker car

Unfortunately yes, This is one reason I like the n/b cars better. The S has the same front and so is restricted to the same 8 or 9 that the n/b uses, but in the back, those big fenders are crying for 285/30, 295/30 or 315/30 on 10, 11 or 12" rims.

Bigger rear wheels or tires relative to the front means more push, which has to be dialed down via suspension tuning.

Again for track(street doesn't really mattermuch) If you go bigger in back try to go bigger in front, but the tire you chose will limit you

For MPSCs 235/40 front and 285/ -315/30 rear

for a more street oriented tire like the Advan Neova you would be limited to 235/40 and 295/30 by tire offerings

I am sure that someone that actually tracks an S(not me) may offer some other relevant insight.

My experience supports what Bill is saying. If you don't want fender mods, I like 235 front and 285/295 rear.

Thanks for all the help. I am looking to get a set of 17" CCW track wheels from a buddy that has a 1996 C2. He is running 245's on front and 265's on back. My C4 is stock and is running 205's and 255's on 17" wheels. I wanted to make sure they would fit.

I do not want to get into any mods on this car. My 944 is where all the mods are going. However, my wife is as big a fan of DE's as I am. One day it will be the track beast. It is very fun on the track for 17 years old! I was curious if by coincidence the CCW's would fit both cars. I know it is unlikely, but I thought I would ask.
