I agree totally from an asthetic perspective.
Years ago at the time 993 was in current production Walter Rohl came over with the Porsche Driving School and stated that the 993 did not handle as well with larger than 18" wheels - its was not designed for the shorted an stiffer sidewalls. Infact he prefered the cars balance on 17 wheels. This was told to my friend when we did the school and he asked about putting 19s on his 993.
My friend ignored this completely and went out and bought some RH style alloys in 19 and put them on hiscar. This was the first 19s on the 993 I ever saw (maybe 10-12 years ago). The handling characteristics were dramatically changed (from 17 to 19!). The wheels were heavier, the tires were heavier, the ride was double as noisy, the turn in was sharper but the cars stock suspension had trouble keeping up with the wheels which created some concern in tight corners with changng camber. He eventually got rid of them after a few month but primarily due to having ruined 2 of the tyres by cutting the sidewalls on rough pot holes.

I agree, but some 19's on some 993's work. Personally, seeing the shoulder height of 19's to fit the 993, the roads around here would make it prohibitively expensive to keep repairing the 19's.
