My lighter plug doesn't heat up either, but the charger works.

The lighter plug does not stay in, like I thought it should, and even holding it in doesn't heat it up...??

Given the way they must test products today, it is apparent to me that when they pulled together the test group and began to burn their arms with the lighters, there were some placebos mixed in with the real lighters. I think we got some of the placebos. Must have put them in the wrong box after the test. I've given this a lot of thought and I know I'm right.

Thanks Guys!

I was finally able to test the socket and it turns out I am in the same boat. The socket is live, but the lighter itself is not working. So it looks like i am set for hooking up a battery maintainer for the winter.

It kind of bugs me that the lighter plug isn't working (just because i want my car to be perfect ) So i guess i'll pick up a new one at some point.

Just pop the fuse cover and read on the underside!

Default Cigarette lighter coil fix?

Seems like quite a few people notes the cigarette lighter socket has power but the insert does not stay in when pushed and coil does not heat. Mine has the same symptoms and I’m a stickler for details... Do I just need a new lighter or is there a fix? Seems odd it would fail.

Replaced my socket as it was shorting the fuse constantly. Works like a charm now.

Looks like you can replace the whole assembly
