Is anyone using an RS front strut top or otherwise, on their car? I am thinking that I might consider something that allows for camber adjustment from the top instead of where the strut mounts to the hub. My car is mostly driven on the street (lots of bumps, etc.) with occassional track use so I don't want anything that will knock too much or rattle my teeth fillings out but do need the adjustability.

My car has the Bilstein shocks with H&R springs

Any suggestions?

I have camber plates/monoballs (along with PSS-9 & RS sway bars) and am very happy with them.

I have them all around. I really like them becuase they make the car much more responsive IMO. Everyonce and awhile you will get a couple odd sounds maybe but no big deal.

If I remember correctly they were from Porsche motorsport but there are several camber plates that look exactly the same.

At least FVD is one source where you can get same (looking) camber plates. I'm sure also Steve Weiner will get you these.

I didn't notice additional harshness after installing mine, but I had already tightened things up with RoW turbo sway bars and PSS9's. They definitely allow more precise handling, I like 'em.

So I suppose that the RS pieces are the ones to get? Are there other choices?

I have the ERP plates on my track car. Note that the open for the strut and strut brace had to be machined to utilize the plate's full range of adjustment. I've also seen this needed on the JIC Cross setup.

Hmmm...

When I had the JIC's I don't recall them needing machining to get full adjustability. I was running -2.5 degrees and they weren't adjusted anywhere near all the way out. Afraid I don't have any pics, though.

I should clarify that this was on a 964 3.6 T with the JIC's. I've been told that if you go with ERP plates, you will have to machine the strut opening.

Sonny,

There is a standard sized hole in your trunk area where the top of the strut comes out of. To fit the camber plate so as to get full adjustability the hole has to be cut out wider. If you look at my picture, you can see that if the hole had not been cutout, the nuts holding the pins of the plate could not be moved to the fartherest position of the slots. In my case, we even had to cut into the strut brace to fit the unslotted nut.

Chris W, from your 3D model image it's looks as though you're attempting a custom monoball design of your own. Any particular advantages you see over vendor sourced options?? I'd did something similar recently for seat mounts after growing tired of dealing with aggravations I had working with poorly designed aftermarket seat adapters. Would have guessed monoball camber plates were less unique a challenge though. Interested to hear what led you that route if that's indeed what you're doing.

Check http://www.smartracingproducts.com/ they damn near everything for your suspension needs. I downloaded their catalog after I bought my Motons from VB in case I needed something. Very extensive line of suspension products and you can always call the racers group....nice guys! Or VB as he's a rennlist sponsor.
