Ok, I'm late to this party. Been too lazy/forgetful to check my born on date.

Wonder why the jumps in numbers vs build dates? Which car would one roll down the assembly line next to? The adjacent vin numbers or build dates? Did some get built and then sit around a while getting other options before a VIN?

Brian, you make a good point. This is exactly why we need a Porsche NA specialist available to Rennlist 24/7.
If anynone has a "connection" at the factory, ask them how the process of VIN assignment works. Although, I bet it's somewhere in Paul Frere's book.
I'm curious to know how exactly Porsche assigned VIN's to cars.

The fifth digit represent the country code and the body/engine style... so our collected info is a little "off" depending upon the market and whether it's a cab, coupe or Targa.
See the p-car VIN breakdown for more info... basically the last four digits are not really enough to determine "sisterhood" down the production line, as I suspect the build of different body types was interspersed and according to weekly demand from the sales force.
