Yellow lights were mandatory on the french cars from after the war until around 1970. But you can still find yellow bulbs...if you really want! Personally...no thanks

Wow.. Are the pictures that bad or the Le Mans bling bling look not for everyone. Just completed an all day Drivers Education with "Hooked on Driving" at Thunderhill Race Park and thought the yellow 17mm lens protection film I put on the headlights and foglights worked functionally (no rock chips) and added a great daylite look.
Thats exactly what I a want to do next. Undecided about aftermarket DIY components?

My question is. Way do the ALM cars use the "Yellow" lights? I can't see that it would help the drivers vision especially at night. Or is it mainly used for safety purposes in Day time driving. I've always wondered this.

it could be. This is one of the theories. The other one is that it was an easy mean for the police to spot cars registered outside France...
I remember also that, when I was young, the fog lights were yellow even outside France, and there advertisings for "fog gogles" with yellow glasses....
