Info re: K40 - LaserDefuser Plus
Does anyone know anything about the K40 - LaserDefuser plus? I've been thinking of buying the Valentine 1 radar detector, but a friend suggested I look into this unit, as cops are using laser over radar more and more -- any truth to that -- or does it just depend on the area? Do any of you use both types of products/protection. Not looking to beat the cops or have a free pass to drive overly fast or reckless on the street -- just looking to avoid petty, unnecessary tickets. Here's a link:

I don't know much about those particular units. They both seem to be very popular. I was recently nabbed by a laser/radar unit. Got off with a fine and no points. I think I'm going to take the plunge also. This type of trickery is now very common place here. Three years ago it was fairly rare. Those were the days my friend. There was a long thread about these units about 3 months ago, give or take.

I don't know about this particular unit, but I'll be installing the ZR3 on my car shortly and I'll head out to the local laser speedtrap (Hwy 120 west, just over the Cobb County line) for a test! Those guys are there every day and salivate like Pavlov's dogs when they see the Red "S" or my Ducati.

where i live they mostly pace you thus making the detectors sort of useless, but after reading about how laser guns are used it seems that a dark 993 w/o a front plate would be pretty hard to shoot with the laser gun (no flat, light surfaces at which to aim the gun)

Have you gotten a "missing front plate" ticket? Mine is on right now just for fear of giving the heat an excuse for a pull-over.

I have both the K-40 and the Laser Defuser on my M5. They work just fine, and long range detection. I don't run a front plate, as such I embedded the radar unit into the front and rear bumpers so they are totaly hidden. The Laser Defuser is upside down and hangs down from an opening under the bumper into the lower air inlet. Only the jammer windows show. I have not looked as to how I would install these on the 993 as of yet. I am pleased with the products.

If you would, where and how did you mount the K-40's? Are you using the plate frames that contain the Laser Diffuser unit? Thes are not legal in VA so I have to hide them as much as possible. Thanks!!!
