im using a V1 for radar and the K40 for a diffuser. I have no idea how well the k40 diffuser works, but would love to know what others think.
I think the V1 is a better radar detector.
Anyone else using this combo?

I believe they can shoot the headlights and get a good reading.

My 2 cents, I have both K40 Laser defuser and V1 in different cars, and sometimes move the V1 with the K40 system. I always found the V1 provide better range and notification. Not to mention the arrows.

I have found no value to the defuser, or at least confirmation it works. How do I know ? Well, got stopped and did not have enough time to slow down. Had top down with lots of wind noise and was enjoying the ride too much. BTW, had no front license plate on midlight blue 993. For front license plate or no license plate - it just slows the cop down a bit as think they are trained to aim gun at front plate. If no plate they aim light or middle of bumper and fire a couple of time for "proper" readings.

"I believe they can shoot the headlights and get a good reading."
would that still work if the headlights were on (would the light being emitted from the headlights ruin the laser-light's reading)?

Default Laser VS.Radar

I am using the BEL 905 laser jammer and a BEL995 radar detector.I installed ALL the emitters to the front rather than the one they tell tell you to put on the rear plate.WHY?because 99% of the time smokey will be waiting for you.A head shot.
Take my word for it,some cities in FL.are phasing out their radar units for laser ones. For the cops it is like shooting ducks in a barrel.Laserdetectors??forgetaboutit.By the time they go off you need to be reaching for your wallet.
The blinder M40 is the latest countermeasure.YOU will need one.The days of radar are going quickly bye-bye.
PS.guess who administers regulation of lasers?? THE FDA !!!!

If you are gonna spend any money, get the Escort shifters. I have had complete k40 radar/laser systems in the past and find that the Escort shifters work much better and you can turn them off at your discretion so the copper can get a speed on your that is legal, assuming you slow down before you turn it off.

I love that, according to the FCC you can't interfer with any RF device, but since light is under the FDA, you can "blind" anyone you want.

Sorry for the delayed answer....

I had a plate on the front with the diffuser unit until I ripped it off on a tire wall at Lime Rock (another story). Now, no plate. I have the unit mounted in the middle opening of the front bumper cover (turbo cover) behind the plastic grill insert. I don't have the plate unit in the rear....everything there is in the left tail light lense. On/off swithch on the dash, front/rear indicator LEDs on the dash.

I have the K40 with the detectors in front and back, HAD the laser diffuser in front and someone stole it. After that, I just took the front plate off and take my chances. But, like everyone said, with the laser guns, when it goes off it's already too late. Theres no point and dispersal like with regular radar.

Regular radar, they see a car and pull the trigger, a beam that widens with distance goes out towards the car. The beam widens, bounces off other cars, and the beam that does not get reflected continue on. The operator has to be trained and usually if other cars are in the beam, they have to do a couple of things to verify the reading is yours. Thats where the detector comes in, picking up the 'misses' and giving a heads up.

With laser, they see car, use a scope to aim it directly at the car, pull the trigger, BAM, your done. No extra beams, very little bounce as it's head on, the beam bounces straight back and doesn't 'scatter'.

The K40 can be mounted very stealthy, but unfortunatly the laser diffuser has to be visible and mounts just under the plate. It has to be mounted as close to the 'target' as you can get it.
