Best source for OEM Textar brake pads ??
 

Hello everyone,

It seems the squeaking on my car did not get resolved with the last two sets of brake pads installed.

I've researched the past threads on this site, and the concensus for what I can tell, is to use OEM Textar pads with no spiders and possibly closing the circuit on the brake sensors for easy pad change in the future. Previous work was done by a local mechanic and I've decided with all the good information on this site that I will attempt the fix myself. I check with my local porsche dealear and they quoted my $164 for the front and $114 for the rear pads - TEXTAR all around... yikes!! $300 for front and rear pads... I've checked two other places online and they were around the same price, $163 and $156 (front only - didn't bother checking for the rear)... are these prices normal? Does anyone know where the OEM Textar pads can be found for a reasonable price?

Check Sunset Imports, a Porsche dealer in Beaverton, OR. No sales tax and good prices. I got my big red textar pads there on sale (a while ago) for under a $100 total for all 4 calipers.

Those are some great prices. I paid $150 just for the rears a few months ago.

Egads, that hurts! Sorry, Fernando, but those just may be the current prices if you've already checked more than one dealer. My front Textars were about $100 a couple of years ago, but there have been a few increases in parts prices that I have noticed over the last year (either that or maybe a weaker dollar to euro). Do try Sunset in Oregon, though. I got some misc maintenance stuff from them and it turned out cheaper for Sunset to ship to my door than for me to buy from the local dealers in the L.A. area!

I checked with Sunset and they are running about $220 (plus shipping) for front and rear, better than local shops... but not a bargain.

I've given up on the cheaper pads, if the textar's fix my squeaking problem, they'll be worth it!

FWIW, the Textars fixed my problem. Now if I could just get PAGID's that I can use at track and street that don't squeek.... :bowdown:
