Cost effective to fix a CDR-210?
I performed a search, without result...
The CD player on my CDR-210 has a really hard time getting started on most disks, especially the first track. It usually skips for a while; if I'm lucky it will play after a minute or so, but most of the time it rejects the disk. Have any of you had one of these serviced, and if so, where? Would it be more cost effective to simply get another 210 or, better yet, a CDR-220? (I know there are better head units out there, but I'm irrationally stuck on keeping a stock appearance.)
I know I should be listening only to the glorious song of the engine, but every once in a while I need some tunes ...

You may want to go right to the source and give BECKER NA a call (201) 327-3434...they were very prompt, professional, and surprisingly reasonably priced in fixing my Porsche head units........no affilliation...just had very good customer service experience, which is hard to find these days.............Marc

I spoke with Becker yesterday and was informed it would be about 150.00 to replace resistor of some sort in my unit and 50.00 to upgrade the face place. I don't know if you want to stay stock I guess you pay the 200.00 or get refub. for 250.00 or get another unit with much better sound quality.

Talking about the CDR-210
Talking about the CDR-210 ... my cd-changer also went south so I'm about to get an interface to the radio (either fm-transmitter or bluetooth)
Actually when I pulled the radio out to change the fuse and to unplug the cd-changer I dropped one of the plastic cover of a button on the front plate and I looked very hard and cannot find it. The dealer tells me they don't sell that little piece ... anyone here with a busted CR-210 willing to sell me one of those little plastic cover???
Cheers

For the cost to fix the CDR210 I would strongly consider getting a used CD2220, or better yet If you can find an older traffic pro, that would probably be best bang for the buck.

Maybe you can find a Traffic Pro. Up until recently Crutchfield had them dirt cheap and you not only stay with the factory look but gain navigation as well.. Got one for my cabrio and I love it.

I recall a few months ago Crutchfield was dumping their remaining TrafficPros. I should've jumped on it then; I checked earlier today, and they're out of stock.

It's your CD player that's going south, right? The Traffic Pro won't help you. My 210 CD player is acting weird too. It won't play the middle tracks very well. First few and last few are ok. Please post your findings. I'm right behind you with having to fix. Depending on cost, maybe it's time for a new head unit that plays MP3's etc.
