No plate on my Illinois car. Got a ticket for it last year, by the new cop in my town. He has since stopped hassling me.

Like Sachin I use a laser jammer-Lidatek-and find that the front plate gives the Lidar toting cop a predictable target to aim at. The Jammer transponder can then be mounted nearthe plate to effectively shift the Lidar in to a false response. Maybe the ONLY good reason to sully the front lines of this beautiful car with a plate.

Never had a front plate in 39 years of driving while living in California. Now living in Arkansas, NO plate is required.

FYI...This is a personal choice for each of us. FYI.... as a matter of probable cause for a stop and police involvement in your life at whatever time you-know-who decides it is appropriate to pull you over, the stop is likely appropriate and all evidence gathered as a result is not easily suppressible in the event (____________) charges ( you fill in the blank) are filed. Can you spell "probable cause".

But aside from that, the aesthetics are a consideration in this debate. Mostly, I think, we do not worry about the risk of being nabbed as we are nearly to the person law abiding. Right?? Well maybe not, but we do get to chose whatever risk is appropriate for our particular life style of motoring and whatever other condition might place us in legal jeopardy if detected.

Is this a great place or what?

I have one. I got hammered by the parking storm troopersin South Pasadena and West Hollywood. The car was legally parked but no front plates. The thing that really bugged me was paying $25.00 to a snot nosed, zit faced police explorerfor inspecting the plate. But these guys will ticket you for not having your wheels turned on any slight grade. They ticketed just about every car at a function for my daughter's school.

Front plate is in the trunk. I have a front bracket on order, and that is my story and I'm sticking to it! Last time I was stopped for speeding, the officer asked, I explained...he gave me a warning for the 50 in a 35, then wrote a 447 ticket for the plates (non-moving violation, no points, etc.).

Now, yo u have to understand that in my State, speeding ticket revenues go to the State for "revenue sharing", while non-moving violation revenue stays with the local authority.....always nice to give the Officer a second option. Of course, if you are an a-hole, you can collect both tickets.

I go out to dinner in Palo Alto and Menlo Park often here on the Peninsula south of S.F. and I always try to remember to pop on my front plates before I go as they are really aggresive giving out no plate tickets here. I guess it's going up nation wide as well due to the growing use of the overhead cameras curse them.

I keep a little kit in a frisbee with screws plate bracket etc. and a power screw driver, only takes a minute to put on, also considering the lowering bracket.

I have mine on. Since my car could get me a handfull of tickets, I don't want to invite the "man" into my life. Let's see, no cadillac converter, ride height to low, exhaust exceeds legal limits, driving on race rubber, and of coarse no front plate. It doesn't help that I look like the guy who stole the car either.
