Review of RUF Spoiler Module
Just installed the one that Weissach sent. Incredibly easy to install. Took less than 10 minutes to unscrew and pull the old one out and install the RUF module.
Works exactly as advertised: spoiler goes up at around 68mph and comes down at around 44mph.
Is this a mod that matters for most 993 owners? Probably not. But I think RUF hit the nail on the head with this one. For me the spoiler is supposed to go up at speed and not during normal street driving - exactly what it does now.
In my two days of driving with the module in, spoiler movement must have been reduced by a minimum of 50%.
I am interested to hear from the others in the group buy once they get their modules.

A 45 minute DIY ... including 40 minute test drive. Glad to be without the deployment on the expressway, but nice to see it up during on ramp launches. Adds about 6HP, it seems.

Installed mine last night after I got home - literally took about 5 minutes to remove the old module and replace it with the new one.
Driving to work this morning I was probably watching my rear view mirror more than out the windshield. Mine goes up at 58 and down at 32.

Just wondering why is there a wide spread in the vehicle speed (in MPH) for the rear spoiler deployment?
So far we have:
Ups at 58 and 68
Downs at 32 and 44
While I noticed mine at 80/40.
????
anybody care to share their speed readings?

The module I installed is the one I got from the GB. It had a RUF sticker on it. The stock one I removed deployed the spoiler at 47 and down at 7 or so.
I'm curious about the spread in speeds as well...

80/40 would be really great - 68 or so is still nice as it definitely cuts down on the number of deployments on a drive.
Eric, I can see the top of it in my rear view mirror. I don't really know why but it is just a PITA in its stock mode. I'm probably just too sensitive to these issues - kinda like tearing up during Terms of Endearment

Eric: I think the theory is that deployment set for 45 mph causes the spoiler to cycle too often in city/suburban driveway with the following results: (1) no aerodynamic benefit; (2) negligible cooling benefit; and (3) consequential excessive, unnecessary wear on all of the components.
And if your head is on a first-name basis with the headliner like mine, you can indeed see the trailing edge of the spoiler in its deployed position.

my basket handle blocks my view of the spoiler...although I like the idea of saving wear and tear on parts, this mod would be low on my list of changes. Curious though what this 10 min mod costs?

You guys all got lemons or your speedos aren't accurate. My guess is the latter. My RUF spoiler module worked exactly as advertised. Raised at 120 Kph (~75 mph) and lowered exactly at 80 Kph (~50 mph).

Starts to go up at 63, starts to go down at 36. Measured at constant motion, not during accel or decel.
We may have some different measurement methods going on here. If the spoiler starts to go up at 63, but I am in "launch mode", I could well be doing 80 by the time I see it raised. The important thing for me is, my overall spoiler deployment frequency is way down for the type of driving I do.
