Payment for two has been sent. Thanks again for taking charge with all of this stuff John. Looking forward to (if anything like last years Rumble) a very fun time. Maybe there will be some fun places to get lost like last year also .

A number of posts back I asked where people were staying. Unless I've missed something, I don't see any posts on what hotel/city the overnighters are staying at. I need to see if I can get an overnight reservation before committing. I had back surgery a few months ago, and this is too long of a trip to make in one day.

JR,
I've sent you my Paypal payment. I can't thank you enough for picking up the ball and running with it. I hope to see you at a meeting place on the road!

Check for two is in the mail. I am looking for a room in Cambria. Maybe we can do cocktails and dinner at that same place on the patio overlooking the ocean that we were at last year.

Pardon me. I wandered over here from the 911 area. The RGruppe (early 911 group) had their North-South meet in Cambria for three years (2000-2003) until moving on to Monterey.
As a public service, stay away from the San Simeon Pines Seaside Resort. They're extremely conservative about their guests. They tend to group all Porscha owners as outlaws, sorta like Lee Marvin or Marlon Brando raping and pillaging Bakersfield (or was it Fresno?) in that early B&W bike movie.
.... or maybe it was just us.
I stayed there the first year. I made reservations again for the second year. Two months before the event, they cancel with a formal letter saying I wasn't welcome. Wow. Mild-mannered me? A letter to corporate hdqtrs. fell on deaf ears. Anyway, fair warning. The other places on Moonstone should be more accommodating (except maybe Cambria Shores Inn. Don't ask).
The terrrain:
Lots of rolling hills make for exciting high speed driving. However, I suggest you pick your safer spots. The roads in and around Cambria/Paso Robles (except for the wide-open highways) have their share of narrow two laners with an occasional tractor or deer to contend with (not to mention cars from opposing directions and from around many blind corners). Be careful. While this appears to be a loose-knit event, the "event organizer John" or group may be liable for any property damage, personal injuries or liabilities incurred. One of our drivers collected a deer during the group ride last year, luckily w/o any damage to his car (I can't say that about the deer).
Weatherwise, I think a nicer place to stay is a town called Cayucos, about 15 miles inland from Cambria off Hwy 1. Cambria has typical winter/spring weather; cold and windy mornings and evenings; even rain, while Cayucos, being further inland has much more consistent, warm weather, but still next to the water. Not as commercial, as Cambria, but quaint with lots of eateries and hotels too.
The RGruppe event is the same weekend in Monterey, so we'll probably be passing some of you on Hwy 1. :-)
Hope this helps,
Sherwood
