Hi all,

Well my S-O2's were worn out, car needed alignment, and the turbo twists we're showing their age and wear so I popped for some new rims, tires, and alignment.

I opted for the new 18" 5-spoke Carrera wheels from Porsche - got a good deal, like the way they look, they're light, a quality product. On the tires - I went with the P-Zero Rosso's. Now before you all complain too loudly about putting a 'comfort' tire on the car remember that I do track the car and have a second set of rims with r-compound tires for spirited driving. Honestly, I really like the Rosso's - they are quiet and reduce the harshness of the PSS-9 and RS bar setup on poor road surfaces.

For those of you interested - it seems I have the car too low to align it to RS spec so here's where it ended up.

Hi Ben,

Nice work on the wheels IMHO! I have considered doing the exact same thing to my car...I feel that the new factory 5-spoke wheels are very sharp but I was wondering how they would look on a 993...but you took the plunge and I think they look superb.

Ben--

Wheels look great on your car!! I've also been wondering how they would look on our cars. Makes me want to sell my 18" polished hollow spokes--anyone interested?

Cheers, Brad

Ben, if you don't mind me asking you, what kind of deal did you get from the dealer ? I think that the last time I check w/ the Sunset Porsche, the out the door price w/ a comple set of tires was close to $3000. Thanks.

Seems like the best way to buy these is as "take-offs". You would need to take the stock tires, but you could change later. Try http://www.wheelenhancement.com

Like minds...my wheels arrive on Monday. I'll have to post a pic later in the week. I like the way the wheels give the brakes some breathing room.

Gert sells these wheels for about $2,200 delivered to the US.

GJ - It takes a 1" spacer - same as I had on the old narrow body turbo twists that were on the car.

Last993 - with the trade-in of the old wheels I paid a price similar to Gert's for the wheels and the Pzero's. I do a LOT of business with my local dealer - they appreciate a loyal customer. I understand that what I paid amounted to slightly above their cost.

Note: In a fit of conscience I have removed the explicit pricing - I was asked to be discrete about it and shouldn't have disclosed hard numbers. Suffice to say that if you have a good relationship with a good local dealer they can be very competitive. Thanks to all the great folks at Boardwalk Porsche for treating me well!

Cool

Ben, your wheels look fantastic! Wow, I think this is a great choice and offers plenty of room for a crazy brake upgrade.........how about some PCCBs to fill that extra room up? Anyway, have fun with the new suspension and keep the shiny side up.

later,

amir

I was going to buy these wheels off one of my buddies here at work but I have one question, will these wheels work on a 1997 narrow body C2?

Yeah, they look very good. I may be a rare bird, but I don't think they look good on the 996. I don't know what it is, but it doesn't seem to match the car. But your 993 looks perfect with them!

Newbie question-

Are you using spacers to fill in the wheel wells or is it really a performance inhancing issue to get the wider track?

When would one know if changing wheels when a spacer is warranted?

Thanks.

Yep, I agree they look fantstic. I was considering a set of RS replicas but the 5 spokes really do suit the 993...and at Gerts price.....Arrrggggghh here we go again..
