Default Does anyone have a parts diagram of the rear seat assembly?

I'm trying to retro-fit some rear seats into my car and I don't have any of the parts other than the seats themselves. Obviously they hinge on a center bracket, but I don't have a clue as to what to do with the carpet on the back, or the elastic strap that gets screwed in somewhere. Maybe a parts diagram would help. The rear seats aren't on my copy of the PET. Thanks,

Greg H.

Can't help you with a diagram but I could shoot a pic when I get home.

I spent an hour trying to unscrew the 2 large 12mm-headed slotted bolts to no avail this weekend. I'm going the opposite direction from you (removing all the parts) but am keeping them for future use/resale value later.

Are you sure about that? There is a seat specific section of PET that is accessible from the main PET page where you normally select the year and model. For 993 rear seats you'll want;

Model - stz
Year 96
MG 8
SG 07
Illustration 807-40

Thank you Jason. I have it after all, didn't see that section.

John, pictures would be appreciated. You have PM.

Greg,
Did you get the pics? The files were large.
Let me know if they are specific enough.

Hi; my first posting as a Rennlist "newbie". What is the PET to which Greg & Jason refer?

John - Got them, thanks for helping out. I sent an email with some follow up questions.

Coltj - Welcome to Rennlist. The PET is the name for the parts catalog on CD. It has part numbers and exploded diagrams. They used to be illegal to own, although everyone has one. I think you can buy them from any Porsche dealer now.

Thanks for the info re. the PET. I purchased a '96 C4 coupe, midnight blue ext/int; 47K miles. Presently under going engine-out overhaul. PPI(leak down) showed problems with 2 cylinders(exhaust valves). Reports that most SAI ports were badly clogged. Perhaps I should have started another thread. Should get the car back in a few weeks.

David -

I am trying to install rear seats in a car that came with the Rear Seat Delete option. It is turning out to be a pain in the rear. Unlike the mass produced 996 chassis, where they have all the mounting points in say, for example, the GT3; in my car they did not install the seat mounts and the rear wall is different. Thank god they did install the belt mounts or I would have second thoughts about doing this for reasons of safety.

Anyone have a black rear wall they want to sell? I have pretty much everything else.

Greg,
Got your e-mail,

Yes, I just removed the seat back last weekend, IIRD the 4 screws thread right into the body panel underneath.

The elastic (which you saw my hand holding in place because I removed it) is screwed directly into the support behind the seat. The fabric/rug on the back of the seat is what keeps the seat in a horizontal position when the seat is folded down.

I can get more pics, let me know what you need.
