Default OT: Queens Day in Amsterdam April 30th--See ya there

Looking forward to celebrating Queens Day in Amsterdam this year. A couple buddies and I are heading over for 5 days and although I have been to Europe a number of times, including Amsterdam, this should be a good time with Queens Day right at the end of our stay.

Queen's Day in A-Dam can be a lot of fun - been there, done that. Remember to bring lots of orange clothing to wear and be ready for major crowds.
The other thing is, the city is garbage central for at least a week afterwards - not the usual "scrubby Dutch".

We rented a large 2 story fully furnished apartment through Amsterdam Escapes right in Nieuwmarkt (New Market) . It comes with everything down to a mini keg of Heiniken and a stocked frig of milk, soda, and water when we arrive!! We are dialed in. Its a been a challenge finding a place (apartment) with deciding over the past couple of days we are going, especially over Queens Day.

Should be a good time.

Queens day (Koninginnedag) is a great happening in Amsterdam and the whole of the Netherlands as well for that matter. I lived in Amsterdam for 1½ yrs and its really the day of the year so to speak. My suggestion is to try and find a boat (or rent one) to cruise through the canals. Last year I got the opportunity to go on a big boat of a friend of mine.. There we had everything; loads of beer, food, our own DJ, waterguns, smokemachine etc etc.. it was a blast I'd tell ya . And as 95 c4 993 said, remember to wear orange clothes, especially if you are not dutch Enjoy!

I just returned from a 5 night stay in Amsterdam and a 1 night in Brussels over Queens Day holiday this week. Considering the weather was perfect (no clouds, no rain, and sunny the entire time, with temps in the 70's) it was quite the holiday party in Amsterdam on Monday.

Queens Day has to be one of the top festivals on earth. What a blast!!

Brussels and Amsterdam are great cities and I endulged in every aspect of the culture my entire stay. Amazing places.

A couple of Queens Day shots, Kokenhoef (the tulips). And of couse, we dont talk about the Dutch women in the Redlight District! There is nothing better than walking down the street having to take a **** and just walk to the stand up urinal in broad daylight and in public. God bless Amsterdam!!

I will be back next year for Queens Day on a side trip on a few other pit stops in Europe. An old college buddy and I have made a pact that we will make an attempt to go every year--guys only trip. If you want to have fun in Amsterdam, you go with your buddies.
