Update: Shut down while driving
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions...so i went back to the car after about 2 hrs, sounded like it wasn't ging to start, then it did. kept running, made it home, ran fine. WHAT HAPPENNED. Condensation in fuel line?

Still sounds like flaky fuel pressure, which, more than likely, stems from intermittent contacts withing the DME relay.
Seems as thought the 993 fuel pump itself is reliable, at least up to this point in time. Order a replacement DME relay, maybe even two so you can keep a spare with you in the glove box. Original DME relays carried a 944something p/n, where the newer relays have a 993something p/n. |

MGA:
I might add that the DME relay controls both the fuel pump AND the ECU (ignition). When (not if) that relay becomes intermittent, fuel & ignition are affected and the car will: 1) Not start reliably all the time 2) Run intermittently and sometimes just cut out We always install a new relay and toss a new spare one into the glovebox to stave off "Mr. Murphy",....:) |
thanks to all...new DME goes in Monday.
