Default Factory paint finish

Hello all!

Recently bought an early 993 in Riviera blue. Just love the colour!!!
On closer inspection the paintwork inside the front compartment appeares original and untouched (primer showing on chassis rails, all stickers and chassis plate in place and correct, no overspray).
The only thing that worries me is that the rubber plugs and grommets around the area are fully painted.
Is this a normal factory finish? Seems a bit odd to me.

Absolutely. Most owners do not see the area but on the side walls, near the floor of the baggage compt, you may note a primered area with only spacklings of paint. It is normal as the paint robot was not programmed well enough to get deep into the baggage compartment.

One of the (few) no cost options but denotes originality of paint..

Primer not showing ON a factory paint job, but primer not fully covered by factory paint job.

Peter Morgan himself mentiones this as a valuable finish for buyers of used cars in his Ultimate Buyers Guide.
"Typically, cars leaving the factory have this half-painted look to their inner structural components"
" If the longitudinals or the other non-visible internal metalwork are in full gloss finish, it may be worth checking more closely for other signs of major accident damage repair"

A couple of more...
I´m sorry that the pics are not very good, but my garage is quite compact and there´s a snowstorm outside...
I´ll send better ones when summer arrives

My car was repainted on the rear right wing by the previous owner. When you open my engine compartment the rubber grommets are painted only on the right side... This let me thing that originally they were not.
Are you suspecting a crash repair?
