Default I Can't Stop Adding Mods.....

I have mentioned this in prior post, but I feel it is worth saying again. Mainly because so many of you out there can understand. “Normal” people just don’t understand our “problem”.

I bought my 97 cab last year with a tiptronic for the specific purpose of being a daily driver. I was losing my company car due to a promotion. Yeah, I get promoted and lost my company car. When I bought the 993 I told my wife that the car was perfect as it was and need no mods. It had some damage from a traffic accident when I bought it and I figured after the repairs I was done.

Yeah, right. In the last year I have;

1. Color changed the interior from blue to black.
2. Three spoke steering wheel
3. Bird armrest.
4. Bilstein HD shocks.
5. ROW M030 Springs and Sway Bars.
6. Front Protection Bar.
7. Motor Sound Airbox.
8. Supercup Exhaust.
9. Manual Oil Cooler Fan Switch
10. And today….OEM Black Heated Power Sports Seats with Hard Backs.

You guys understand…right??????

Chuck, of course we understand. I have had discussion with many over the years on other boards about this. In the track driving community there are some that believe the only way to improve with our Porsche's is to learn to drive them. I on the other hand believe that once you drive your car and begin to learn it there are many joys to be had with making upgrades along the way. This applies to anything you do with your Porsche. So do I understand, you bet. Do I think it is a sickness, you bet! Am I going to stop enjoying the journey, Heck NO!!!!

Nice list! Do you love your 3 spoke wheel and is it from a 996? I'm about to get my airbag for the 3 spoke wheel that's sat in my office for a month now!

Your list has me thinking... you're messing up my 2005 car budget!

Chuck,

I don't understand. What is the problem here-sounds like perfictly rational and normal behavior to me.

Al

PS-My cab came with the Bird armrest and I keep it up most all the time-with my arms it gets in the way of the shift comfort.

CayenneAK...Wife has no problem with my addiction to mods. I guess 28 years of spoiling her has some advantages. The Bird Arm rest is shown here. I would not recommend it for a stick. With the tiptronic, it does not get in the way even when I shift manually using the stick. Go for the 3 spoke steering wheel. Not only does it look better it feels much better. Has these nice humps at 2 and 10.

Steve 96C4S....When you set you 3 spoke installed let us know what you think. It's such an easy DIY do wait.

Air Kuul TT...I do want that black top. All in time.

Thanks for all the support with my mod issues. I knew I could count on you folks.

Chuck,
We understand your affliction - and also support it. I'm afraid that if I listed my mods from this year, it might be triple digits.

I only attempt the very simple DIY jobs. The steering wheel change is very easy.

Take a look at this posting, it may help.

Hi chuck! Very nice mod's list.
Of course I understand you! in september I was changing my oil cooler resistor. Look where I'm now...
Let's slip on the "slippery slope" as far as we can afford it! It's too good

This is kind of hard to understand. You should show more restraint...
