How many guys use the 993 as a daily car? Is it practical?

Paul902....I can't imagine. I keep the top down on my cab all year unless its raining. I added heated seats because it gets in the 40-50 range sometimes. You folks must be tough to endure thoughs temps.

Hi folks -
I note that most of these responses are from warmer climes than mine (western MA). Do people in the frozen north use their cars as daily drivers, as well?
Thanks-

Josh, if your going to use it 365/yr be careful of one thing.....RUST. My car was just brought to warm climate from Scituate Ma.(did I spell that right...anyway) and anything and I do mean anything not galvanized or painted is shot beyond belief. So just be careful if you winter cruise...does nasty things!

I use mine as an every "other" day driver. If I lived in a climate that was more extreme, I probably wouldn't drive it as much in the winter. I just can't I resist driving the P-car on a 65 degree sunny winter day in Northern California....yeah baby!

I do, but Chris is right in that some bolts (e.g. around the muffler straps) have seized and needed replacing secondary to rust. There are also a few small dusty flakes of corrosion on some of the control arms. This may be the last winter that I use the 993 on salty roads, because it may take its toll eventually if overdone.
Honestly, I wish the road crews didn't use so much salt around here, but I guess it's necessary since most people don't seem to "winterize" their cars with snow tires.

Hell I wish my exhaust bolts looked like bolts! They're just little wads of rust holding other parts of rust together and somehow it all stays together nicely Aside from that...everything else is in great shape....probably because the PO had left the tranny and engine trays on, but still there is some corrosion. Buy a Cayenne if you need an all weather Porsche, these cars are too expensive to end up like this....my.02 cents
