A few people have recommended these guys ..

Goodluck, From what I have seen, anything with a Porsche label is going to be over inflated. I heard they are very expensive

I thought they seemed like pretty good guys when I met them, although I never had any major work done there. They have a nice Opti-Line 3D alignment system! Pretty much everything in their shop was a P-car except one bimmer they were installing coilovers in. I don't recall their rates being excessive by any means.

Hi Rob,

RPM were one of numerous shops I called for my first oil change. The owner I spoke with said they started as a Porsche shop and eventually got into other high-end cars. The price they quoted appeared to be a small notch below what other indys (ie. Lynmor, Autosport) in that area quoted. I ended up going to Formula One Motorsports in LIC b/c I was on a time constraint. RPM was originally my first choice and still considering going there for my next service, as I like you, am looking for a good affordable-dependable shop.

If you decide on RPM or any other shops please let me know as I'd be interested in hearing your experience and comments. Thanks.

I haven't had any personal experience with them. I have had excellent service from Autosport, though they are certainly not inexpensive.

Arrwin, Autosport recently quoted me approx. $200 for a one-filter oil change, and $250 for a two-filter oil change.

Whoah. I paid about $180 @ Formula One, but then again he didn't use Mobil 1 (Quaker State Synthetic) and now i'm wondering if he changed both filters. I'm pretty sure I made sure both filters were replaced, but who knows...

Gary...didn't hear from you this past weekend. Autosport is located in Huntington, LI (where else?). (631) 425-1555.

If it's good enough for this Todd and this guy...it should be good enough us!

RPM has done several things for me. Very reasonable prices. seem to do good work, in a timely fashion.
They always go out of their way to drop me off/pick me up when the car is there. I may have them do a sc this winter.
The guys to talk to are Russ and Tasso. Eric is nice, but he's only 19. Never heard anything bad about the other shops you mentioned either.

Arrwin,

Thanks for answering Gary's question. BTW, didn't I tell you that Autosport also services my Carrera GT?

At Autosport, ask for Tom Papadopoulos, Barry Wagner, or Antoine Cretol (sp?).

surgeon-
regarding RPM - they are an 'all-around' shop? right? as opposed to just a race orientated shop?
Ive also heard from many people that Autosport can be very expensive.

Finding a good shop is just a complete disaster!!
Either they are nice and dont know enough to do stuff beyond an oil change, or they just want to build a 999hp motor and dont have time for you, or they are crazy expensive and think you will be happy to pay whatever 4digit number is on the bill.

Or, perhaps enthusiasts are just bad clients - i.e. we know just enough to be dangerious, we question them, we want value, and we demand their time.

I would also suggest that you check with an authorized dealer as a basis of comparison. I am not suggesting that all dealers are preferrable. However, I have found that the pricing of routine servicing and other stuff (lower valve cover gaskets, steering rack, etc.) is sometimes LESS at the dealer. Maybe being a customer since 1984 helps not getting overcharged (much) at the dealer. As with all purchasing, need to get comfortable with QUALITY and the pricing, in that order.

Default rpm racing

i used them for my first service as i was new owner last year. very nice guys, reasonable pricing , i think, and a lot of p-cars and bimmers in the house. i had susp replaced , align and corner bal, turbo ducts and fogs done, and 15k service. i do think i recall they took the car outside for the corner balancing.

i would recommend them. i think they are definitely capable for modding street cars.
