Who has the most beautiful 993 on here??

There was a thread started like this on the 924/44/68 board so i decided I would start one over here... Mainly because I just want to see a bunch of 993 pics :p

Keep in mind, this isn't a contest, just post your favorite pictures of your cars...

I wet myself everytime I see that red 993RSCS posted...

graham_mitchell 10-20-2004 01:31 PM

By the way, the numberplate on that red RSCS isn't just for show, the Swedish registration really is "911"

if you like that car, then you might like this photoshopped version (high res is at http://gallery.rennlist.com/wallpaper/album03):

Rich,
Sorry I can't really give you the measurements. I had the RS slightly lower than the Euro RS specs. The C4S corresponds to the Euro C4S specs.

All I can quote are the clearance figures under full load:

Euro C2/C4: 3.9 inches
Euro C4S: 3.7 inches
RS: 3.5 inches

Adrienne 10-20-2004 08:31 PM

Yes of course. All in good fun. And now, as someone earlier so appropriately said, back to the car porn!!

OldGuy 10-20-2004 08:31 PM

mnmblu 10-20-2004 08:39 PM

Paul, you are correct, I was thinking that myself. How's the trailer? I see you have come up for air or you got your computer hooked up in there. I am betting on the latter.

OldGuy 10-20-2004 08:50 PM

Its not going anywhere right now. I am trying to figure out how to get an aircompressor in there next to the big screen TV. The only problem is when you turn it on the compresor drowns out the surround sound. The couches went in nice and now the hot tub install on the roof will be later.

mnmblu 10-20-2004 09:12 PM

Paul,
Somehow I think there is a bit of truth in some of that. The drowning out of the SS is serious. You may have to put a 500 gallon tank on the roof for air storage or build a soundproof compartment to store it in.
Think Paul!!!! All of our enjoyment depends upon it. :roflmao:

mnmblu 10-21-2004 02:07 PM

Hal,

Your first arena turbo picture is really a great shot. I could be very effusive but will leave it at that.

Na, let me elaborate. The color is outstanding along with the exposure. It is framed beautifully in a great setting. Notice how the brown dirt "line" along the fence at the top of the picture coincides with the angle of the driveway, as defined in the lower left of the picture where the grass meets the concrete, to intersect at some unforeseen horizon on the left of the picture.

As the car heads towards that point the eye moves left, and you will note the driveway starts to dip, leaving the subliminal impression of speed... towards that unforeseen connecting point, like a dip in a roller coaster. The car has a slight angle downward that is just enough, again, to create the illusion of speed.

Did I mention the color? Look at that those colors pop, wow, with the top of the picture framed in a nice contrasting blue. The color of the driveway is so complimentary to the color of the car that you would think Armani had chosen it. The garlic plant at the front of the car breaks the otherwise similar landscape and, again, draws attention to the downward slope. Notice how the flax plant shows through the front windshield as if there were no windscreen. This draws attention to that area leaving the subconscious mind with a 3 dimensional impression. The plant looks like it is framed as a picture within a picture creating depth.

Now, the reflections on the car, well... just look! The lighting is fantastic, note that even the rear spoiler and bumper are lit up as if a reflector panel was shining light on the rear of the car. Also take note of the point of reflection denoted by four "star effect" points on the hip, spoiler, and the ones around the rear window. This draws attention to the sexiest parts of the car. And then there is the shadow under the car, again creating a great effect that is subliminal but frames the arena red while acting as a boarder between the driveway color and the car color.

Now... take another look at that shot and you will see what I mean.

Hal, great shot.

I will also note that there are many great shots here but I wanted to say something about this one in particular.

mnmblu 10-21-2004 03:46 PM

Alan:

I thought a bit more sidewall would provide a softer ride; although I must admit that I really like the Cup wheels on a 993. I think Fred's cab looks great with Cups judging by the pics. You should think about Cups with a blue center....

mnmblu 10-22-2004 01:22 AM

I have thought about it. But too blu me thinks. I sold my cups for the twists and love em. Wish I hadn't sold my cups cause I could have used em for the track, damn. Oh, well.
I really dig your white on white, looks neat.

Stevarino 10-22-2004 01:46 AM

Thanks. The Cups have a bit more depth as opposed to the very aero TT's flat face. Overall, I'm happy with them. Although I still have the TTs stacked in the garage.

You saw all that? It's easier for me to just try to concentrate on not shaking the camera too much and hit the correct button. Yeah, I've hit the off button several times when attempting to take a photo.

I'm also impressed you know the plant names. I'm always describing them to people as the blue/gray one with the purple thingies or the green one with the long spikey leaves.

And....ya didn't like the second photo. Here it is again with MORE COLOR/CONTRAST.

Hi Boostid,

sorry for the picture! I apologize for stealing such a beautiful background and make you remember a movie I don't know about . I took the mnmblu compliment about your great picture as an occasion to show it on this forum. That tractor, I took it during my holidays this year. I could not resist to take the picture when I saw the guy with the helmet! My wife was laughing so much, she was unable to take it from the front. I didn't tell you, your car looks wonderful!!
Here is the original of that tractor:

Actually, as long as we're playing bust the balls, complement with an E should be used in the above sentence meaning adding something to enhance or complete. Whereas to compliment, with an I, is to express respect or esteem for something. :nono: :nono: :nono: I have to defend my fellow C4S owners and it seems you've been breaking Phil's balls a lot lately. :p I know it's all in good fun. So is this :) BTW, your photos are very intriguing. However, it seems you change your avatar more often than most A.D.D. sufferers change the channel on their televisions. Have you got a problem with commitment? I know I do!!

Good natured Regards,
Matt

boostid 10-22-2004 07:17 AM

JP;

Actually, the tractor in my driveway is appropriate. There are times when it would come in handy around the property. I like the way the driver displays his P-car passion with the emblem on the rear of his coat. As to helmets, when I need to climb a tree to top it or other trimming, my wife insists I wear my full-face Simpson.

Regards,

mnmblu 10-22-2004 01:49 PM

Hal,
Yes I did. I know that sometimes even a blind man can hit a bullseye, It happens to me all the time. It is just that all those elements came together to create a wonderful shot, planned or not. I do like your second picture too but it does not have the magic like the first. The photo gods were on your side for that one.

Matt, hmmmm, not sure I understand your post. Thanks for the english lesson though, my mistake, really wasn't thinking or editing my post and besides I went to Beer U, so I'll use that as an excuse. Next time you may want to use red when highlighting my errors, that way I can dredge up old memories of failed exams, oh boy. I guess I better start using the spell checker too or I am really gonna be in trouble. And breaking Phil's balls???? Not me!!! He has been breaking my balls about my affection for the basket handle, all in good fun I might add. I think his off handed comment was indirectly addressed to me in a good natured way. Phil and I are very good buddies and we support and respect each other.

Yes, I do change my avatar quite a bit... being in the witness protection program and all... Besides, I get bored, A.D.D., of course. Man cannot live on bread alone. ;) It's like a rotating wallpaper program, keeps me interested.

A good natured response from mnmblu.

Alan :)

Oh, and nels415,
Great picture too. Silver is such a great color to photograph, there is no better color for the camera lens.

I'm happy to see that this thread was resurrected... Maybe a mod should sticky it and change the title to something like "The official 993 Pic thread" Just an idea... I really can't wait until I get a 993. As of right now it still looks like its going to be 4 years down the road or so... When I get out of the Air Force, my student loans are paid off and I have a house... god that seems like a long ways away...

Oh well.. I'll just keep trolling the 993 forum and live vicariously through you all.... :(

Alan,
How did you get all the grunge off from the drive down Sat AM? I want one of those filters too. Next time I'll know how to strategically park at this event for the cool photo ops. It helps not to get there an hour late.

Thanks for the shot, I really didn't take any at the winery since I buried my car in the front corner of the lot without company.

Bradford 05-03-2005 07:48 PM

Alan,

Thank you for the posting the pic of my car. The car looks good in person but your photos make it look great!

Gregg T, cool front bumper. What is it?

Rick Lee 05-03-2005 08:49 PM

Jools, after you wait 6 mos. and pay $26k for an accident fix, the body shop guys tend to shine it up real good when you get the car back.

Wombat, don't ever give up the hope. Like it or not, time passes by and then you wonder what happened to it. It seems like just last week I was at the Dealer drooling over the '96 993 on his floor. I had just graduated and wondered when I'd ever have one. On the flip side, a buddy just emailed me yesterday reminding me of some hilarious stories from those "single" days and commenting how those days are long gone and won't be repeated. So the day will come when you get that car you want, just make the best of the present.

wombat7 05-04-2005 01:19 PM

I would argue very strongly that it is one of the very prettiest cars on this thread.

Not the most racey, or rare, or modded, but a truely beautiful example of a 993.

Thanks Arrwin- I had clears on my 964 and they looked good, but...

My girlfriend is asian (hence gay dog..) and she was teasing me already about having the car too rice-boy! She was like, "you gonna get clear corners now?" So in protest, I'm leaving them yellow.. actually, after a bit of research, the Audi RS6 corners fit, & there is a tuner who makes them in black... I just have to locate the source!!

Thanks... there are quite a few 993's on the market in Singapore now mainly because they are coming up on the 10-year COE expiry... that is if you are not fussed whether the car is a Tiptronic or manual. I waited and shopped around for almost 3-years before i found my C4 because i was looking for a manual car.

Awsome cars! All of them! Did I miss something or am I the first Aventurine Green 993 in the thread? Damn shame if you ask me! Not much moding going on yet! Got to start with the Pss9's for this 84,000mile daily driver. Then I was thinking about these seats. They look like a perfect fit. For some strange reason the wife says :nono: The last one is my personal favorite. 16 months and already knows which car to get into. Yup, factory Speedlines. They seem heavier than my BBS mag wheels and even Kinesis K-28's. I bet that's due to the "five spoke" vs. "splits" center design. On the other hand they should have no cracking issues.

Your car is sweet. It will really stand out when you start club racing. :D

I just love you color. I almost, in a weaker moment, bought a '97 Boxter in that color. It had grey interior with color accents through out the car. It was really sweet, but the way it was done it was really a womans car. But was it pretty!!!

Dr. No,

Thanks for the compliments. Those are Roock "Competition" model made in Germany (by Ronal), 2-piece polished cast aluminum 18x8.5 and 18x10 wheels, rear ET 50 and fronts ET 45. Actually, I don't have those wheels mounted any more. Back in Feb, I made a trade with another Rennlister in response to my offer (https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/188082-wheel-swap-offer-back-on-the-table.html
and now sport factory hollow spoke 18"s.

But I did think those Roocks really had a great look. The car now better reflects my "old fart" image. :surr:

Still waiting

Well after this episode... https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/210541-bounced-off-the-guardrail.html
I got the car back about the 3rd week in August 05. About 2 wks later was back in my riding looking and feeling good. As I approached a stop light, an older fellow in a Cadillac CTS V came up 2 lanes over. Hum i thought... I wonder if hes gonna get on it. Light turns green i go he goes, not really hard thought.... accelerate gradually faster through 1st great... hit second....glance over he doesnt hit it hard... and then finally i see him jump on it... I jump on it, go to power shift into third gear......nothing...... im like wtf? Try to put it in third again barely get it in gear... by now the cadi sees me slow down and proceeds down the road in a normal manner.. I get to a stop light it turns green im doing about 35 struggling toget into gear, finally takes 3rd gear again.... The next light I stop, put the clutch in tried every gear ... and would not engage. I get out of my car in the midldle of a busy intersection and pushed it across the intersection to the other side of the street. Pisssssed offf beyond belief... Pushing this car..... Call AAA they come and tow it to Hoen Porsche here in Carlsbad. Turns out I broke the shift fork.... Get a call later and they tell me I need a whole new transmission. $ 10k,,,, are you kidding me? $ 10,000 for a transmission. I literally shiit myself. Well lucky for me when I bought the car I bought an extended warranty. Highly Recomend !!!! They covered all but about $ 800.00. Sweet Im saved.. But wait.... I needed to replace the clutch so i have them go ahead and do that. So my ride has been in the shop since the 3rd week of August waiting for the dealer to calll the warranty company, so they could send out an adjuster. So Hoen had to order the transmission from Germany. They get it 2 wks ago and were about to put it alll together, and noticed that someone had dropped the flywheel, which cracked and chippped some of the teeth off, so they order another one, and it came in Monday of last week. So now Im waiting for the dealer to receive a check from the warranty company, and my service guys calls and updates me. So I ask well how much am i gonna have to pay ... and he replies " Oh uh just under $ 5k." Does that sound a little high for a clutch and an alignment? I mean i should only be paying for parts right? The transmission is already out getting serviced so they shouldnt have to charge me for labor on the clutch?????? What do you guys think? :banghead:

Father of 3 10-06-2005 06:53 PM

Parts for clutch from RL vendors should be $1200 and up for NA rs clutch/lwf setup. Don't know about clutch for a turbo.

Rhino 10-06-2005 07:30 PM

I purchased the RS clutch and LWF from a RL vendor for $1400. Get an itemized list from the dealer of each part, part # and the cost. $5K is way to much. Infact read this link from a reputable mechanic in the Bay area. He discusses what they charge for the same job. Here is the thread: RS clutch and LWF-I finally did it! ( 1 2 3 )

More beauty in the eye of the beholder, mine.
It started a simple C4 when first bought it in October of 2001. Then the illness began and it was treated with the following remedies.

OEM Aerokit 1b
Euro transmission
M030 suspension
Strut bar
Euro front bumper mods and turn signals
Atiwe 3-spoke wheel with airbag

The result to me, priceless. I would not trade even up for a 997. But then I like Harleys (owned 4) but not the V-Rod, could all be a sign of my age.

I don't know about "most beautiful", but I sure am partial to mine. (Though quite possible since I just bought it, and it is my first Porsche.)

i like the yellow calipers with the white car.

C Russell 11-15-2005 03:35 PM

mborkow, Thanks. I think that is one of the things I like most about the car. Sets it apart a little.

Very Nice! Is that Pearl white? I had an Audi that was that same color. Never seen it before on a 993. Was that a factory color?

GREEN HELL 12-12-2005 11:13 PM

...Yes it was a factory color.. it's one of 3 993's TT painted Pearl.
The wheels are Champion 3pc.. painted pearl to match .

BTW the Silver 993 racecar isn't mine it's a car i liked when I was at Mid Ohio few years back.. sorry to who ever owns it for posting the pic without asking. but it's a great car.

cabrio993 12-12-2005 11:20 PM

Very unique. Never knew Porsche had that color. Thanks for posting the pics. Do you know who owns the other 2 pearls?

Tony356993 12-12-2005 11:23 PM

I love the Pearl!

GREEN HELL 12-12-2005 11:24 PM

No, I sure don't. It would be neat to know though... I am sure if I did enough homework I could find out..
Welcome, I just thought I'd ad some 993 pictures to this great thread.

Hi everybody, first of all I want to apologize in advance for my bad level of English...

I registered yesterday and come from a French forum called http://www.club911.net. I live in Switzerland and own this 993 C2 updated to 993 RS Clubsport. The upgrade is still ongoing and I plan to finish before March. Still waiting for BBS Motorsport rims ;)

Here are some pics of my baby:

http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/9707/dsc004124ze.jpg

http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/3277/dsc004428bh.jpg

For the rest I removed useless stuff from the inside and put some RS parts on it. Power is now 320hp and weight is around 1280 kilos (count on you to make the conversion ;)). The aim of this frog is to be driven only on racing tracks (French ones as there are none in Switzerland).

Thanks in advance for your indulgence ;) CUL

InTheAir 01-29-2006 09:26 AM

Very nice, Nono. Welcome.

Thanks mate, the aerokit as well as the wheels are genuine Porsche parts. The roll cage is being installed this week and hopefully I'll take it back home before the end of next week. The guy from the garage's just updating the transmission and installing a RS clutch. Just cannot wait any longer ;);)
