I have been around this forum for a little over a year and my perspective is not a result of any affiliation with anyone, including the Rennlist elite. I have watched this whole sad and distracting mess unfold. Let me just say that from my perception Argo came into this forum with a chip on his shoulder and a off base passion for what he thought was right even if it was a topic where there was no right answer. I think the issues and button pushing that occurred were a result of his initial attitude and arrogance. It was not because he had an opinion, it was because he had an opinion and did not mind tearing people down who did not share it. I think a lot of fights started from other people defending people who intially posted a topic that were insulted by Argo. I am sure that he is nice guy in person, however it was hard to imagine that a lot of what he did was tongue and cheek. It does not appear that he was banned because he had different opinions or did not fit in with the elite group. I have posted questions on many subjects and I have never been attacked or riduculed by the elite. Argo was banned because he was an ******* who made everything personal and could not let anything go. In fairness, the people that have defended him are entitled to their opinion and it is not my place to attack their opinions because they differ from mine. Maybe if Argo would have though like that, people would have liked him. Sorry about the long post, but I do feel better now.

Old Guy:

First I was jealous of the car. Love the TT and the color. Now I am jealous that you actually get to hang out with the people on the board. Being from a smaller town in the Midwest, that's not happening. However, Chuck Price has been a great help, has passed on his knowledge and is a great guy to hang out with. I just there were more people from my area to hang with. Although I don't post much because I generally only review posts and I use the search function a lot, I have always been impressed with the members and have never felt like this was an elite board.

So does the 'ban' mean that his computer ID and/or IP address is banned from getting to the site even? ..or is he able to read all the info here on rennlist still???

..just curious.. I know of a site that when you get banned... they ban your individual computer from getting access (some sort of uniqe computer ID)... that is all well beyond my ability... which is sort of dumb because what if it is someone who uses a public computer at a library, internet cafe, etc..

Chris

Lots of opportunities to meet fellow rennlisters at Mid Ohio, Gingerman and Putnam Park.

watch the racing board. There are usually "Who's going..." threads the week before.

Chris322,
Here, Here! Well said!

I recall many, many moons ago when I first started trolling through this site, I was immediately impressed by the generosity of those who offered their opinions, technical assistance, and even personal help. Has that changed?...for the most part, No. Still a great place with new "faces" who also want to share their passion as well as their knowledge and humor. All this to say that I truly don't understand the feeling that there is some pervasive elitism that must be paid homage to. People get banned because they behave so egregiously badly that it is an affront to most everybody that they are allowed to continue to share in a community of friendly Porsche enthusiasts. As was said, the "rules" aren't that hard...kind of like common human courtesy which, sadly, is not common among some.

Nicely put Chris. The board is better now due to recent changes, imo. This is the best pcar board around. I particullary like the 993 section, but then I would. I haven't been around that long but I still feel qualified to express the opinion that this board has gone back to the way it was when I joined. And that's a good thing, in my opinion.

Heh! Been on and off the list for the past couple of months ( my boss is working me to death and this stupid dial up connection of mine) it seems that I missed a few episodes
Rennlist is a GREAT place to be ( exept for some people on the OT forum ) and the 993 forum is full of AWESOME guys who are eager to help, guide and spent their time offering free help.
The people I have met personally from rennlist and many others online, are people who have exibited trementous generocity and friendship. If that is not special I really do not know what is.

Like everyone said its up to us to keep this community the way it should be and really we do not have
to tolerate any trolls who have nothing to offer but surly opinions and personal insults.

Just my 02.

Rennlist is many things to many people. Some are basically content to stay in the background and post infrequently. Others post many times a day. Some of our members are very knowledgeable while others are not. As one who prabably fits in the middle I thoroughly enjoy this board (as well as the 993tt board) and the many people who contribute to it. As a member for more than 3 years I have seen many come and go.
I have made many friends here, recieved tons of knowledge here and had fun being a member of Rennlist. While I don't post as much as others I read Rennlist everyday. It's my daily Porsche "newspaper." Someday I hope to even gain admission into the HWFM group.
Bottom line, while their have been some heated discussions over the years, most have not been mean spirited. Prehaps that's why this member was banned - not that he had strong opinions but the way he chose to make them. Personally I hope he comes back with those opinions without the at times, mean spirited way he expressed himself.

ok.

so his invitation to participate has been withdrawn. why does this upset anyone other than the individual in question? even though we've paid (most of us), it's still a priviledge to be here. no one is entitled to be here simply because the site exsists.

anyone a member of a golf club here? like it or not, some places don't have open doors to everybody. in the words of Judge Smails: "some people simply do not belong."

here at rennlist, it seems the rules are pretty simple...among them: don't be a jackass[/B].

Aahhh..wait a sec ? Didn't YOU initiate this thread and refer to Agro as AMUSING ? One would think based on your intial post you were entertained by his posts.

So what you initially found comical, you now criticize and refer to him as NOT BELONGING ? A DISRESPECTFUL TWIT ? and..umm...oh yeah A JACKASS ?

With all this name calling you're doing to a guy who ain't around to defend himself, one could surmise an inferiority complex exists here and you need to belong to one of these Self Prescribe Elitist Groups we all know exists.

Or maybe you're just looking to fill his shoes and take his place ?

At least Agro took a stand, backed it up, and didn't go soft and flip flop his opinion.

You wouldn't happen to be related to that bonehead running for President who can't make up his mind either now would ya ?

Ceboyd,
I am sure a person who is banned can still read Rennlist, just not post, search, etc.

well, like i said, i AM indeed amused by some of argos past posts. so. i think he's funny in an idiotic sort of way. still doesn't mean i think he should stay for my amusement. the vast majority of members and obviously the site administrator prefer that he's not a part of this community any longer.

how my posts have translated into 'flip flopping' is beyond me. but perhaps i'm misunderstood. entirely possible.

no. i'm not related to John Kerry. are you related to argo?

if i've offended anyone else, my apology.

Keith, if you'd ever received a PM from mr argo, you too would be cheering, and btw, that thread is one of the funnier ones I've seen in a long time.

Well, I had a chance to briefly communicate with Agro via PM - no problem whatsoever. May be I did not know the right lines and was not trying to tell him what to say and how to say...
