Ultimate "garage queen" and "last " 993 ?
In classifieds of AutoWeek magazine the last few weeks:
(no affiliation, endorsement, etc)
1998 Porsche 993 C2S
1,640 miles !!
Documented as the last 993 delivered to U.S. (OK, I'll let the resident experts figure out what kind of documentation that would be)
Black/Cashmere, 6-spd, Aerokit, 18" wheels, motorsound
$ 75 K / B.O.
Located in Georgia.
OK, now a black widebody is beautiful to look at (biased opinion), but to ONLY look at it, and not drive it !??

I've read that Jerry Seinfeld owns both the first and last aircooled Porsches.
FWIW I don't think he's selling.
Edit-sorry I see now you said US model

I believe I have a copy of the window sticker and the letter claiming the car's import status. VIN# is WPOAA2994WS321048. The letter from the owner of Brumos states: "The car was one of the very last air-cooled cars produced by Porsche and is thought to be the last coupe processed by Porsche at their port facilities in Charleston, South Carolina".

I saw that ad. I was tempted to check it out as I am local. But how would I know? He is asking EGO money for it to boot. Iam looking for the right car, but I am going to drive it, a few K per year, not look at it.

Someone has to explain to me how this works for the owner.
So he paid $76,229 in 1998 for this incredible car. Parked it in his garage with NO enjoyment for all these years (1,640 miles in 6 years for a 993, Sheeessh). Now he tries to sell it for $75,000 OBO. meaning he's still loosing money (actual price difference, 98$ vs 04 $, and opportunity cost of the $76,222 gone etc.).
Worse yet, the new owner will have a car with dried-out seals, flat-spot tires, and other potential defects.
I can understand if he could sell the car for $100k or something, but this just does not make ANY sense to me. I posted a thread previousely about how people can own a 993 and NOT drive it. This is the poster-child of that syndrome.
This just makes no sense to me whatsoever.
Sorry for the rant.

CP, you forgot to throw in sales tax of, say 6%, for a total of $80,802. Even in the sucky market we've been in during the last 5 years where the S&P 500 index is down 2%; that sames $80 grand would now be $79,200... Which is not as dissatisfying as watching that 993 sit in your garage and only get to drive it 5 or 6 hours a year.

Luis,
I'm with you on the $$$ thing. To me, having a 993 and NOT drive it is a HUGE sacrafice. The benefits had better be HUGE to make up for it. The only possible benefit I can think of is potential appreciation. The 993 is not such a rare car for such assured appreciation. I don't care if that's the LAST one off the line, I don't think there are many people willing to pay $$$$$ for that piece of history. So what was the owner thinking?
