Is it just me, or do the 997's wheels look "Honda-like?"

Not trying to start any trouble, but from the moment I first saw the new 997's wheels, they looked like something Honda would have produced for one of their high-line cars. The Honda symbol jumps out at me in the Porsche 997's wheel design as it looks like Honda "H"'s encircling the center hub. Is it just me? Do most of you love this wheel? Just curious... For those of you that already bought a 997 - do you think you'll keep these wheels on it for the long term? I LOVE certain aspects of the new car, don't get me wrong.

Lovin' my old air cooled 993, despite the fact that the sunroof cable broke last week and it won't close, there's oil spilling out on my garage floor from a mysterious leak, the accelerator pedal squeaks when it springs back from being depressed , and smoke billows out from the engine area from an earlier overfilling of the oil. All this is hopefully being fixed at my "new" repair shop in Rockville, MD this week. I ended up ordering the AJ USA pedal set and dead pedal for it so they're on the way. Can't afford a 3 spoke steering wheel right now, so the pedal set will have to fill my "cheap upgrade" Porsche fix for the time being!

Steve,
I agree with you about those 997 wheels. They are just terrible looking. Can't figure out what the Porsche style guys were thinking about when they made that choice. Otherwise, I've seen the car in the showroom and like it A LOT.

I must disagree that the new 997 wheels look like a Honda offering.
Honda's sports car wheels look better !!

I believe that Porsche designed the stock ugly wheels on purpose in order for people to option out the wheels and thus pay more $$. Kinda like how they nickel and dime ya to death with paying extra for lousy floormats.

Maybe I'm so enamored with my new 997S that I am blinded. From the spy photos, I thought these wheels would be ugly. However, so far I actually like them and they continue to grow on me - I guess only time will tell.

I noticed this in my parking garage this week when I saw a Corvette...
997 wheel on the left...Vette Wheel on the right

I buy wheels that are easy to wash. The 997 wheels totally confuse me. There are no redeeming virtues to them at all. Ugly and inefficient. I'm sure you all know it but a car that is aerodynamic is very easy to wash. Which means it gets washed more often. BTW, the wheels from the Carrera GT will be real easy to wash. But not easy to pay for, unfortunately.

Agreed. These wheels have no redeeming qualities at all, and are unfit for a 911. Oddly, they seem to look ok on a Boxster since it has screwy lines anyway. If BMW can have such nice wheels, why can't Porsche?

I don't know if we'll be doing another shuffle in the garage soon or not to make room for one, but we both really liked the looks of the 997 except for the Ford/Honda/Corvette looking wheels on the S. I don't like them at all (sorry Jim...) I'm also wondering what the Porsche styling guys were thinking or maybe even smoking when they designed those. Besides even IF I liked them I wouldn't want them on our 997(if we got one). My "job" before a car show is to clean the wheels and I know I would not want to have to clean those wheels. Too many nooks and crannies. I'd totally ruin my nails (yeah right).......

I'm glad you guys were able to say all things I've wanted to say about these wheels but was afraid to in my initial post. I try not to "diss" other people's cars or stuff as I wouldn't want others to "rip" on the stuff I got, but these wheels just kill me! What WERE they thinking!!!
