Post VarioRAM Logo on '96 manifold & Build Date

In looking at a variety of '96 and '97 993's I notice that the '96's don't have the "VarioRAM" logo on the manifold (or whatever that grey metal thing is ) Is this typical or did it show up later in the build cycle. The two that I saw today had build dates of 10/95 and 3/96.

All of the '97's I have seen have it.

BTW - any advantage to buying a later build date car?

I was wondering about that. Mine's a '96 built in 12/95 and does not have it.

The V-ram script was added beginning w/MY '97. There were some running changes during the transition from MY '95 to MY '96. E.g., early '96 build dates had the '95 style dual trumpet horns later changed to the small "disk" horns of later cars. There were changes beyond '96, but none were as substantial as those from '95 to '96.

While the logo looks cool cast into the metal, I'm not sure it's a good reason to spend another $3-5K for a '97.

Cool

My 97' coupe (build date 08/96) does not have the varioram inscription. From discussions on this subject last year I believe that it was not included until late in the 97' model year production run.

My '97 has a build date of 11/96 and it DOES have the script. So we're narrowed down between 8/96 and 11/96...anyone have a build date between there?

My engine was sold to me as a '97, no script. At least none that I can see. Does anyone have a photo of the script?

Ok...I have a digital camera form work and I just too a picture of the VarioRam script from my engine. Now let's see if I can get it in this message. Hmmm...the IMAGE tab below is looking for a URL. I have this picture on my hard drive...a *.jpg file. How do I get it in here? I tried to copy & paste...didn't work. Let's try this:

Oh well...that didn't work. According to the FAQ section, I will not be able to attach a file, so I don't guess I'm gonna be able to get that picture on here. How does evrybody else add pictures? And how do they use their own pictures for their Avatars?

Thanks Allen .... definitely don't have the script on my engine. Nice touch, though.

My '97 was made in 9/96 with no "Varioram" script. Now I wish I didn't see this post.

Sorry David, my wife wishes I wasn't such an obsessive shopper also, "just buy one already and be done with it!"
