Strange Are you sure it wasn't a replacement? My 10/95 build date MY '96 has no script & AFAIK the script was not introduced until MY '97.

I bought it used, so who knows. Among other things the dealer says I've a 97 wiring harness as well.

Without confusing the issue further,my 7/95 build 993 RS has the varioram script too!

Just topping this once more, my 7/95 build C4 has the script.

It also came with this great check engine light.

I am looking at a '97 cab/tip with a 10/96 build date and it has the script.

Something to add to this is that in the '96 911 Series Update video (sales person video) all of the engine bay shots have the script, and does the manifold by itself. Other then the C4 they show still having the basket hoop brake light, there aren't any keys as to when the video was made. So whenever it was filmed they had the ability to cast the script in the upper half of the casing...
