My car is clean no accidents, no problems at all comes up looking like a diamond I noticed in the description it says Carrera 4 Base Model. My car is a Carrera 2. Is this just a type "O" ? Maybe I will try CarFax and see what it says.

Of course it's a type O What I mean is does this seem common?

Carfax will not tell you whether it is a 2 or 4. It will be listed as a 993 C2/C4.

Ah ha thats probally it. Thanks, I guess it is just a general description either or type deal.

It may be from the SMOG registration record. I noticed that when I get my SMOG check the SMOG machine would show that my C2 is a C4 when my 993's VIN number was entered into the machine. Since SMOG data is one source of data that carfax uses it may be from there.

I don't think the VIN number identifies between Carrera and Carrera 4 models. To my knowledge, it identifies between Coupe, Cabriolet and Turbo models. Even narrow and widebody are not differentiated in the VIN.

Just order a 'birth certificate' from Porsche of North America (I think you can dial 1-800-PORSCHE). Its about $40 and will tell you exactly what options came with your car, etc. Takes about 4 weeks to process. You will need to tell them your VIN.

$95 for model year 1980 to present
$10 additional for lamination
