QUick waxing question
What is the result of extra coats of wax?? does this
deepen the look or is it a waste of time. Just curious.
Sometimes after a wash I would like to wax it again, and
I am just curious about the effects of such a practice.
if its good how many and how often?

Just waxed looks better than just washed, even though it continues to bead water well. Waxing leaves the finish looking better. As to the other effects, I have no idea - I just know what I like.

Paul:
This is kind of a tough one as a lot depends on the products you are using.
As example. For Zaino Z2 or Z3, they get much deeper with additional coats. However, there are typically tricks needed to multi coat the more old fashion carnuba waxes. As example, with Zymol "Concouse", I used to use a water mister to burnish the first coat so that the second coat would build.
All in all, the worst thing I could imagine is either you waste some time and do not see much result for your efforts, or you might find that as the wax /glaze builds the finish takes on a hue of the wax. Some waxes look white or blue-ish as the build up too thick.
Also, try searching www.autopia.org for the particular product you are using and see if anyone has posted any hints.

Paul, I like to Polish my car after every wash. I just go over the car with Klasse All In One as it is very easy on/off. I typically use the Sealant very occassionally. I just put rejeX on and it is very shiney and crazy slippery. I'm having a hard time putting the car cover on by myself! It just slides off.

For Zaino, the directions are that multiple layers add depth and I'd have to agree from my experiences with a black car. I typically do 3 coats when giving it a detail (every few months). It does look better after the third coat. I've heard good things about Klasse also but haven't tried it yet.

OG,
I was wondering about this myself a few years ago so I called Meguiers. I was able to speak with engineering/tech and was told that successive applications of their product(s) simply removes and replaces the prior application.
That's a primary reason I now use Zaino...
Regards,
Bill

So is your normal routine wash and just Klasse AIO. On the long "which wax do you use thread", you mentioned a sealant. What do you use and how often do you apply after the Klasse? Would you use the Rejex in the place of one product or another or is this a new product to the routine?
I may have to practice on my black BMW until I find my car.

Bobby, yes, I wash and Klasse AIO typically. I will add in the Klasse Sealant Glaze periodically. However, I will now be using rejeX in place of the SG.
JPS, check out the rejeX thread in the 996 forum. Amazing stuff!

i think there are some misnomers here. you don't really want to POLISH your car too much. POLISH are basically sand paper (grossly simplified). to add confusion to this, many manufactures call their product POLISH when it's really wax or sealant or whatever. i have heard many people use the words POLISH, WAX, SEALANT interchangeably.
i will limit my post to products i have used extensively.
zymol (the expensive stuff, not the one you find in kragen): jim is correct in that more layer can give you deeper look, within reason. BUT, you have to wait for a bit (2 hours at least, IMO), then spray with water, wipe water off, reapply wax.
zaino: the more the better. but follow their extensive instructions.
Meguiers: i am not doubting bill P's post. i only use #21 or was it #27 yellow carnuba wax in liquid form. i have noticed that more coats does make it look wetter and deeper.
griots: both the best of show wax and carnuba wax benefits from multiple layers. wait until wax cures. i wax it, park it under sun for an hour or two, then use detailer spray to lightly take off dust and rewax.
P21S wax: use cleanser once, then follow with 2-3 coats of wax.
although multiple coats do add luster, i am not talking about night and day difference.
