CDR-210 skips while playing CDs over smallest bumps - can be cured?
Has anybody encountered such problem? Is it something that can be fixed(diy or sending to Becker of NA)? Unit is mounted in the cage really sturdy and doesn't move at all.
CDR-210 fits so nicely in 993 interior design and I hate getting some other/newer player... So would like to fix the one I have.
Thanks!

If the CDR-210 is like every other car CD player I've looked at, there are little springs inside isolating the mechanical portion of the CD player from the controller PCBs. If your lucky, one of those springs has probably come loose and that side of the CD player is now resting on a rubber shock absorber. To reattach the spring you will need tweezers, they are REALLY tiny.
Good Luck!

Alex,
When I bought my car the dealer installed the factory CD changer in the trunk, the same as the factory would have done. I had the same problem with constant skipping over the smallest bumps.
With some head scratching and calls to the dealer ("they all skip"), I finally contacted Becker. I'm going from memory now (this is three years ago), but there are little ***** on each side of the (ends) of the CD changer. These have to be adjusted to different o'clock positions depending on whether or not the unit is mounted vertically or horizontally.
My dealer just installed the 6 CD changer out of the box and never adjusted the *****. I changed the settings and the unit never skipped again. However, since the installation of Bilstein HDs and M030 Euro springs, it will skip once in a while now. Was your 6 CD changer recently installed or is the car new to you?
I can explain this better if you want to give me a call. Office is 800-333-0519 x 106.

Thanks, Jason. Is there something on the web with pictures or something about how you take CD player apart? Like p-car.com, but about Becker CD-players?
Thanks, Mike. Since I don't have CD changer I use CDR-210 as in-dash CD player only (it has slot for CD and it can control CD changer if you have one).

Alex,
Got ya, my mistake. Sounds like you may have to send the unit to Becker with a squawk sheet. They have a good reputation for service, so they should be able to fix your unit. Good luck.

Got it, Jason.
Once I get the radio removal tools(DIN slotted), I will carefully look at it, but doubt that will be able to do anything with it.
So, I think I have to prepare ~$140 to have it fixed at Becker of NA.
Will post an update once it's over.

Well, here is an update - Becker of NA said that it would cost more to fix the CD mechanism(parts+labour), than to get refurbished warrantied unit from them.
So, if somebody has CDR-210 for sale, please, let me know.
Thanks!

Jack - not for a million! And it's not after-market - it's european Porsche suspension, as far as I understand
Chip - yes, once I have it back, I could do that. I will try, however, another repair shop - http://www.carstereohelp.com/. They won't charge for an estimate, and if it's more than $185 and I decide against repair, I will have to pay only for shipping.
Actually, I've been driving without radio for two weeks already, and don't miss at all!
Is there some cover, that can be put over radio slot? What RS cars(read "real Porsche" ) have in that slot? I don't believe radio is put into RS, is it?

To conclude the thread I opened - http://www.carstereohelp.com/. did what Becker of NA could not do - they repaired my CDR-210 and I'm very happy about that!
I paid $180 to get player repaired and considering that there is 1 year warranty on their work, I think, it's much better deal to fix the one I have rather than to buy used one and potentially find that something stops working later.
