Question Am I the only one who can access this board?

Three other people told me they can't access it. My access came back on line at 1:30pm eastern time, 7/3/01

I couldn't get in last night, or today. Just tried now and everything is fine, obviously.

On another note, the volume on this new board feels historically low to me. Is it because there are more boards now? Probably because this is a 993 specific board now.
This is in vast contract to the audiworld S4 board I visit, there is so much BS on that board that I can't even go on there anymore.

Rob - I also think volume is way down. No doubt splitting off the 996 Board accounts for some decrease, but also contributing (IMO) is the reduced anonymity, the need to register & member ratings which likely decrease much of the old Board's BS; much slower load times (ok w/DSL or better, but must take forever w/a 56k or slower connect), more time needed to move between threads & the natural adjustment to something new.
I guess you could say the new model has more bells & whistles & better tech specs, but lacks a sense of tradition & the less disciplined unpredictability that added (not always welcomed) excitement to the old model.

Yes, I agree that this new format has put off some users, even though it is much fancier. When I came to the new board for the first time, I got the impression that you had to pay to be a member to use the boards; don't know why, but I got that impression. Someone else said the same thing. That could deter some. I know of one lister who was upset over being demoted from 5 to 4 stars, and I'm sure there's more of those. I do like that there seems to be less BS, but I sure miss the amount of participation/information of the old setup.

my $.02

Thumbs down

Had some problems on Saturday, as I remember.

Then again, Robin - I couldn't get into your site at same time! Wanted to get at your info on the front brake line strut hold-down mod you did. Couldn't, so just winged it.

Generally, I haven't had a a problem accessing this site. Then again, I'm not signed onto it 24 hrs a day. I don't access it during the day exc. for lunch (then only occassionally - Big Brother is watching!) Don't know about some of you, but I DO have a day job to do. Then at nite till just before beddie-bye, am doing house/yard stuff, cooking/eating, out with friends, or down in the garage cursing at some nut or bolt I can't access.

As someone that uses dial-up service at home, I have found the load times to be rather tedious I was afraid it was just me ...

I had the same access problems yesterday.
I access at work via LAN which has high speed access and 56K at home. Sure the LAN is faster but the 56K is not that slow.

I am also concerned that the volume of discussion has gone down. I thought maybe people were on vacation etc...

Tito.

I had problems most of the day yesterday.

I like the new board layout, but find the "star" rating system juvenile and meaningless.
