Does $65k sounds right for a 98 C4S?
Hi all,
I've just got back from test driving a Silver on Black 1998 C4S. The owner wanted $67.5k at first but then he agreed to the final price of $65k.
What do you guys think about the price, is it a fair price?
The car has 21k miles on it and looks to be in a good condition.
Thank you in advance,

I've also been looking for a C4s and the price of $65k for a '98 doesn't sound too bad, prices I have seen for '96 C4S's were actually a little higher.
For comparison check autotrader.com to see what others are selling for. Autoweek is a good source also (autoweek.com - classifieds section)
I have a 95 995 Cab for sale in NJ if you know anyone interested...
Good Luck in your search..

65K is a decent price for a C4S, especially in CA in the summertime. Of course you will get a pre-purchase inspection to include a look to see if the car has be whacked or re-painted.
If you buy it...it's a great car.

Hey Pin, it sounds like a good price for '98 C4S, it seems like a lot of nice cars are selling cheap in the bay area. I wonder why?
What are you going to do with the E46 M3? Sell it to your fiance'?
Take care buddy!

Hey Ron,
How are you doing?
Yes I'm seriously thinking of getting this car but I'm still debating about it since I have to lose all the money that I paid for taxes, etc. for the M3.
Do you know anyone who wants to buy a Carbon Black E46 M3?
Take care Ron,

Hi Pin,
$65k sounds like a good price. Check the history of the car using www.carfax.com When I was looking for my C4S I found some that had been moved from one state to another to clean the salvage off the title. Kelly Blue book at www.kbb.com will give you the retail and trade in value for you area for the car you are looking at. I have owned my 96 C4S for 2 months and it is great to drive.

Before anyone can comment on price (other than broad brush), you really need to tell us what the options (factory/non-factory) are on the car. As CA993 post shows, options can really add to the original price of the car, and obviously affect re-sale prices.

Laurence is absolutely right - especially when it comes to Porsches. Some individuals attempting to purchase a Porsche forget that these cars are usually very unique as to how they are equipped. Therefore, you can't just go to Kelly Blue Book and type in the info. and come away with a number. These cars are note Hondas in that there usually are not thousands of identical vehicles out there with the exact options, etc.
In my opinion, what it really comes down to is your attitude towards the car as a whole. To me, it has always been worth it to pay a few thousand more and get what you really want. Otherwise, what's the point in purchasing a car this expensive in the first place.

Hi Chris,
Don't get me wrong, I really like the M3 a lot. It certainly is a fast car and for the amount of weight that M3 has (my friend told me that it weights the same as his wife's 528i), the car handles really well. It's a comfortable car too.
But lately I've been thinking of getting a car that I would keep for a long time or maybe forever and the only car that I have in mind for that is a Silver on Black 993 C2S or C4S, it is my dream car
Basically what I like from the 993 is the feeling that I get when I drive the car, the roadfeel/steering feel of the car, and the awesome look of the car.
Perhaps the M3 might outrun the 993 on a straight line (maybe not on track though) but power is not the most important factor that I'm looking for in a car.
The only thing that make me hesitate to sell my M3 and get the C4S that I test drove yesterday was that I just bought the M3 and that would mean that I will lose all that luxury, guzzler, and taxes that I paid in just 2 months ago. I believe that I can still my M3 for at least at MSRP since the demand is really high here in the bay area but I'll lose the money spent in taxes, etc.
I haven't decided anything else but I hope this answer your question.
The M3 is a great car, but for me it doesn't give the feeling that I get when I drive the 993. I've only driven two 993s though, a 1996 Silver Carrera and a 1998 Silver C4S. I've driven a 996 C4 too but honestly I was more interested with the 993.
As far as the option on the car that I test drove yesterday, here's from what I can remember:
Motorsound
Aluminum shift ****/hand-brake
Carbon interior
Floor mats
CD
18" Turbo wheels
hmmm I can't think of anything else...
Btw I'm going to the track with my M3 next week so hopefully I'll learn more about the car and make a wiser decision by then.
Thanx Chris,

Chris:
If that vehicle has the carbon fiber interior, it is a steal. Are you aware of how much that option was? If you like the car and it is exactly what you want, what's a few extra dollars? Long term you'll be much happier.

Hi Phil,
I'm still waiting if anyone wants to buy the M3 first.
Once my M3 is sold, I'll get that car (have it inspected first of course )
By the way it's Suwipin... not supin
