Differences between a 95 and 95/2 993
Hello all,
I have a '95 993 and was recently pouring through my service manuals and discovered that Porsche refers to my car as a 95/2.
There are two distictly different sets of wiring diagrams for the earlier and later cars with a note that 95/2 refers to "vehicles with V.I.N.s from WPO AA2 99 1SS3 21454 and from WPO CA 2 99 8SS3 41225."
(Wiring 97 -37)
My vehicle was made 11/94 (very late) and has V.I.N. # WPO AA2 99 5SS3 XXXXX. It thus falls into the 95/2 category.
I know that Porsche often uses the first year of new models to "transition" into new electrics and mechanicals. I am assuming that the 95 model has more 964 components on it than a 95/2 model.
The differences between the "95" and "96" are well known: varioram, pollen filters, OBDII, slight strength differences in the front suspension, etc...
Is it possible that some of the above features and changes that started with 96 made it into the late production "95/2" cars?
Does anyone know what other differences, besides electrical, there are between the 95 and the 95/2 models? (I may have to pull my seat in order to discover which DME I have!)
Thanks everyone. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Old style wiring harness...? I am assuming that there must be an issue with this type. Could you please elaborate or point me to the relevant info?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I just spoke to Robin about this, and he gave me the details about the wiring. A bit scary, however, and I will check mine immediately, since I am exhibiting the symptoms.

Guys, Please dont mess around with this wiring harness thing. See my site under the DIY section for information. It has been discussed a lot lately. You should also look at the archives on the old board for more info. Suffice to say that a serious fire danger is possible on early build 95s with early wiring harnesses. My site address is in my signature block below. It appears that not every car is afflicted, but it is worth the check.
