They will then be back on the market w/needed work either done "on the cheap" or not at all. We're already reading some of the stories about those abused cars.
Dan....very well said. I hope ppl take in account the maintenance cost of these vehicles and make the right decision for themselves. I know I will.

Thanks.

I have hit the 100,000 mile mark and I have had to do the transmission twice (I do shift a lot living in a very hilly, curvy country), replace my lifters recently, and had once had to have the engine taken apart and remounted due to oil leakage. Still, all in all, better than buying a new car (not that I'd want to... ), every once in a while.

I put a lot of time and money into my car. However, the thing that keeps me sane is that if I bought a 335i, which was the "normal" route, I would have a $10k car and lost $30k in depreciation. It's all about cash flow. If you can't take a $5-$8k hit at the mechanic, the I would advise against it.

And you wouldn't have the same smile on your face when you turn on the ignition...

If this is true, he / she should not buy a 993 IMO, unless he / she is willing to work on the car themselves.

Has anyone used Wheelers Auto in Hamden Conn. for a PPI on a 993 …Car looks great and has 25,000 miles. This is my first 911 (I am a 356 guy) and getting a little nervous about cost.

I posted a thread recently with a spreadsheet showing all of my 993's maintenance expenses since new, for a lightly driven C2 Tip. (You could search for my username and find it). At 38K miles, the long term per-mile average is around $.22/mile for everything except gas. All the advice here is very correct - a well taken care of car can be easy to maintain - major work can be expensive so buy the right car.
