Post Question for fellow Black Interior 993's

Howdy guys.

Four days with my Guards Red with Black Interior , and the AC/heat hasn't given me any problems. But I will be in TX this summer (TX=hot), and was wondering what my options are, I don't know what the proper tint would cost, and was wondering if anybody recommends for/against, and why.

Also, where do you buy your extra Mobil One?

Tint application on any 911 is much easier than alot of cars so it shouldn't cost too much. Mobil 1 is widely available at most parts and car shops. Be glad that you have black interior. It will look much better than any other color interior in the long run. Dont sweat it

Actually tint is tough on these cars. Look at the way the front quarter window is. There is not flap to slide the tint under. Besides that it is nice to have on hot days IMO.

I have the same color combo with you and have no real problems in Texas summer. I have noticed that the 993 does not have the same greenhouse effect as other cars with extensive glass areas.
Maybe it is diffent on a coupe than a cabrio.
As for tinting its a personal preference I guess.

Hey Socal-CJ,

Someone with more technical understanding will have to fill in the blanks, but let me share with you what I was advised.
If you were to install the Turbo S (techart)
ducts with positioning lights (and for the sake of argument, might as well throw on the euro turn signals...) From what I understand, If you do not direct air from those ducts onto the brake rotors, they will ram air into your A/C unit making the A/C work more effectively.
Again, I don't have a mechanical explanation, I'm just passing advice along to you that was given to me. I used to live in Miami where A/C was a big issue..

thanks guys,

my AC feels great, it's so fun to learn all the little tricks of the 993. I really am glad that I have the black interior, the previous owners took impeccable care of the vehicle. I have only driven a few hundred miles in mine, but in the 90* SoCal Winters, the AC seems to work fine so far. I am probably just thinking of ways to increase the amount of time I already spend thinking about and sitting in my car.

Cool

Living in the greater Phoenix area for the last two years, the black interior is no issue. It is no hotter than the camel interior on my MB. The perception that black is hotter is a HUMAN perception. <img border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" title="" src="graemlins/bigok.gif" /> The A/C is awesome and is very efficient in my CAB. I am a bit thankful for less window area.

I need to tint the windows perhaps....Not sure I need or want to go that route.

I remember the first long trip over 16 days, 3400 miles leaving St. Louis where I lived at the time. We departed on a June afternoon, one of those muggy 90 degree days. Turned the A/C on high and 20 minutes later my knee was knumb from the blast of cold air. Really works well.

Just sit back and enjoy the car...Thats what it was designed to do PERFORM!

My car is polar silver with black and I used a tint that has abit of silver to it. It does not appear to dark from the outside, but does help quite a bit in keeping the interior cooler. Mike w
