Post So happy! Buying my 993 this monday!

I am so happy today. Went to look at a car I have been keeping my eye on buying for the last month or so, but never had a chance to go see it. Finally had a chance to see it in the afternoon. Verything looks great on the car except for a few minor paint chips on the bumper and hood. This is a 1996 993 6 speed coupe black/black with 80K miles on it. The car was originally listed at $42K, went down to $39K, but finally negotiated it down to $35K.

Here are the options listed on the car:

Supple Leather Package
Driver and passenger adjusrable seats
Driver Block System
Motosound package
Factory holly Turbo twist 18's front and rear
Bilstein PSS-9 suspension
RSR/GT2 clutch and pressure plate
Guard Transmission chromally Lismited Slip,40/60% Locking
Andial Lightweight flywheel
Brey-Krause Carbon Fiber Strut tower brace
Eclipse 6 CD in dash stereo
Extant 75Watt X 4 channel trunt mounted amp

plus also done:

New OEM Zimmerman brake rotors and Ferodo DS2000 pads
4 wheel alighment
brand new Bridgestone S02 tires all around
New Factory windshield
A/C recharge
all records, books and recepits from day 1

All work down by Carrera Tech Automotive in the south bay and Kahler's Autowerks

I will be calling Carrera Tech and having them do a PPI to find out alittle more on the history of the car, but I hope this would be a great buy for the price.

I know of Kahler's as being a good shop, but is Carrera Tech (Ct Automotive) also a good place as well for a PPI. Please let me know. Thanks!

Sorry for all the spelling errors in the last post, should have edited them before posting, makes me feel "uneducated" Anyways thanks and I will definately post pics the moment it goes into my driveway. Now I won't be another one of those people lurking around the 993 board without a 993, I will actually be an owner of one. There are other options on the car, all told there are about $23K in receipts invested in the car by the previous owner, who is himself a Porsche enthusiast, so it was well taken care of, besides the minor chips in the front. This will be a car I will definately keep for a long time, unless I end up buying a 993TT hehehe.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I just love hearing about 993's - or any 911 - restarting life at what too many people call "high mileage."

80K miles??? It's just gettin' warmed up. Good luck for many more miles to come.

Say, are you in the market for a front protection bar? Or twenty? Step right this way...

Art:

Congratulations !

The car sounds quite nicely setup. Enjoy.

You have to join us on a soon to be (likely) Bay Area 993 Forum drive.

The BEST thing about finally getting my 993 was that my stress level went down immensely. I really stressed over finding a car, searching, searching, searching... Then when I found one - the stress of what would be wrong with it, would it be worth the hassle of getting it all fixed, do I trust the seller, or move onto another car. Is this one right, or this one? Glad you're through the tough part, finding that needle in the haystack.

Black on Black, better get Zaino! I love the look of my car after it's been Zaino waxed. I haven't even done it yet to my "new" car, but my 88 just shined after a half day of spa treatment with Zaino.

Congrats on your black bombshell with it's impressive options list for a bargain basement price. You did the same thing I did - concentrate on getting a higher mileage car of exactly what you wanted, and you saved a heck of a chunk of change.

Way to go <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

Thank you guys!

Steve - I know the feeling of feeling stressed while I was looking for my "perfect" 993. I have been looking for the past 6 months, spending countless hours on the internet looking at every ad from here to Timbuktu, calling every dealership in the area (both Porsche dealerships and indy's), and every local used car paper ad.

I finally found my car at Roadsport Motors in Campbell, CA (just outside of San Jose), which is an independent Porsche dealer. The guys there know there cars! They were very nice, very low pressure, and very honest. They followed up all my calls and gave me complete info on the car, and I even spoke to all the mechanics and shops that have worked on the car.

The car was owned by a guy named Todd and was placed on consignment with them. I think Todd is a Porsche enthusiast and has a website page on p-car.com . It was originally listed at about $42K, then dropped to $39K, and then I negotiated it down to $35K.

What I like about the deal is that it has new brakes, new tires, alighnment done, and even the 90K tune up! So the car is basically ready to drive home in almost perfect condition!

I went there to drive it today, and the thing HANDLES! Not reallt stiff at all, but very flat and smooth response. Lots of power too.

Anyways, all the paperwork is signed, just waiting for my credit union to send them the check and I will drive it home on Wednesday!

By the way anyone know a good place in the SF Bay Area than can respray rock chips on the front hood and bumper? There are several on their and I would like to get them painted so the car will be absolutely "perfect!"
