Looking for a 993 Cab, where is the best place to look?
Hi,
Looking for a '96 Cab. Have looked at the Rennlist classifieds (only one person replied and he stopped when I asked for the VIN) and have looked at Autotrader.com and classifieds2000.com. Any other suggestions? Many of the local cars are too expensive for what you get (SF Bay area) Any suggestions or do you know of any leads? Being that we just had a baby, I have to be a bit frugal and should stay under $50. Thanks, Chris |

Persistance is the best way to find a cab in good shape. However, I do think finding a 96 for 50k or under will be tough. Most of the 96 cabs I see go for about $55k-$60k. You may be able to find a 95 in your price range. The dealers here in virginia are paying about 45-47 for a 95 cab in good shape and marking them up to about $50-55 so theoretically you should be able to find one in your price range. In my opinion it will be much harder to get a 96 for that price unless you buy high mileage. |
If you don't mind a trip up to Seattle you should have more luck. Market appears a bit softer up here. My sister-in-law just traded in her '95 993 Cab w/ 54K mi. for $35K. I just bought a '95 coupe, w/ 25K for $42K. Granted they are '95s but you should be able to find a 96-97 in the price range you've posted. I've seen several up here.

As a follow up I went to cars.com and did a nationwide search for 96 cabs. I did find one with 54k miles for $49,995 in Boston. Looks like you can find some for less than $50k but most were substantially more or coupes. Happy hunting. |

Check out DC Sport in Anaheim (on La Palma). They had a 95 cab, blk/tan with 24k miles on it. Perfect cond. with brand new top (wonder why) and they were willing to go down to $50.9. I settled for an older one with 50k mile for $45k. |

Pick up a copy of the Dupont Registry. Many Porsche dealers advertize in it and will deliver from any part of the country. I have bought 3 Porsches this way and never had a problem. You can arrange your own pre-purchase inspection in their area, should you find something of interest.

Check out Porsche Classifieds Digest. It is a great source for used Porsches, or simply checking market values.
