Will 996 wheels fit 993? Same offset?

I am in the market for a new set of wheels for my 993 (narrow body). I have been searching for used/takeoffs that fit my budget, and I see a lot of 996 wheels that say they will fit 993. Are the oem 996 wheels the same as 993's (including offset)? How about boxster wheels? are these the same as well?

Thanks!

Check out the approved tire section of my web site, that which will give you some general idea of the off set of the wheels for different cars. P-car.com

It depends on the diameter. The 996 17" wheels are identical in size and offset but the 18" are slightly different (in front) but will fit as well. Forget about Boxster wheels.

For the actual sizes and offsets, I'd follow Robin's advice and look into his site.

I can tell you that the 17" wheels off a 996 C4 were the same width and offset (7", 55mm front, 9", 55mm rear) as my '96 993 coupe. I use them as my track wheels.

You can look at your current wheels around the air valve to see the width and offset values; just compare that to the specs on the wheel you're considering.

Yep, they fit.
My car was fitted with these wheels (17") when I bought it, and I have seen quite a few 993s with these wheels on now.

Incidentally, I went to a big VW meet recently and even saw a couple of sets on VW Corrados !!!

Take a look at the pics of my car to see what they look like.

Hmm, I can't get this link to work correctly.
You will have to go to http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/etjw_porschepics and navigate to the folder called Iris Blue C2.

The one I personally prefer are the 996/GT2 wheel style as hollow spokes.

I have been told by the Wheel Enhancement guys that the 996 Turbo offsets are not compatible with narrow 993's. I suspect, though, that as with the air cooled cars, Porsche will issue these style wheels in other sizes as later models ("turbo look") come out.

Does anyone know any differently?

That is correct, neither the 996 Turbo's nor the 996 GT2's wheels will fit a regular 996 or any 993 for that matter.
